Newcastle or Spurs were the only places that could guarantee Maddison being the starter. Especially since Waistcoat finally decided to start using him. Being at Spurs helps his England chances more which means a lot to him considering he was an outcast for so long. Nor is he a favourite so him doing a Slabhead or Phillips was never on the cards. Hes too old for Chelsea so that was a non starter. Arsenal have Odegaard Yanited have Bruno. Bu-bu-but Havmomentz we could of signed Madders instead of him. Different profile from what you was looking for and needed more off the ball player. Especially when you have Zinchenko playing the inverted LB role you don't need another player who needs to be on the ball playing at left 8.

Citeh have changed their profile on what they were looking for. Liverpool were looking for more 6/8 than a 8/10. Also they have Elliott and Jones who are more 8/10's. So while Maddison went for cheap his options were limited for different reasons.
Not disagreeing fully. But Arteta 100% could’ve made him work. All the minutes Vieira gets, definitely could’ve been a decent replacement across the forward line really. For the money, I’m shocked he didn’t have more suitors. Having guaranteed minutes was hard though you’re right
