If they aren't managed slowly back into things they will get injured again. Covid aside, the EPL should have had a winter break years ago. There's a reason why the players burn out with injuries so much.

This is why I say bush the league cup for years and make it an 18 team league. Those midweek slots could be used for PL fixtures. And then have the break between the FA Cup 3rd and 4th rounds.

From after the international break in November till the FA Cup 3rd it's like a third of the season takes place in those 6-7 week window.

The pace and intensity of the PL it needs to be reduced to be 18 teams. Playing in the PL is like dog years on the athletes body. Also there are too many teams just happy to be in the PL. The league needs more jeopardy
