Gignac was always an excellent pure 9. Only issue he had was his discipline and ability to stay fit (as he was often overweight) which is weird because he seems to maintain well in Mexico of all places
After Marseille, he could have went to the EPL for a couple of years as his style of play suits it well. 20 goals a year, good finisher, physical and strong in the air. A good 9 for a upper-mid table team. But he chose Mexico and he seems to thrive there so it was a good choice nonetheless.
