Even though Liverpool would've still won, Emery should've started Lacazette and Torreira. You have to put your best XI in games like these

Some of the selections were very weird, but Emery's been kind of like that since he got to Arsenal. I have no idea why Torreira didn't start if Pepe's fit and integrated enough to start.

Also, we really need to do something about the defensive brain farts. We might have gotten a result if not for the defense (mostly Luiz) screwing up and essentially giving Liverpool two goals in the second half. You just can't do that against a squad as good as they are and have any hope of winning or even getting points out of the match.

At least we're not United though. Rather lose to Liverpool 3-1 away than lose to Palace 2-1 at home.

Coutinho x Lewy's link up today was:wow:
I really hope bro does well in the Bundesliga, today he seemed to do so well, looked really confident on the ball.

They are not reliant on them to create tho. They can create from general build up possession play.

so far this year.

What are we supposed to be seeing here? :patrice:
They're top creator is a midfielder....

A team like liverpool doesn't really have a creative midfielder, so they just use the midfield for pressing.
Teams that have a creative outlet in midfield don't rely on the fullbacks as much

And in some situations like Marcelo and Dani Alves, the fullbacks are too good going forward to waste them on only defending

The floodgates would've opened sooner. Arsenal might've gotten a goal earlier, but Liverpool would've had 3 or 4 by halftime. Arsenal don't have the guns to go toe to toe, especially not at Anfield.

Emery had the right idea at the start. Flood the center and concede the wings to Liverpool's fullbacks. It means letting Liverpool cross over and over into the box, but that's better than letting Salah and Mane run riot in the middle of the park.

Where Emery fukked up was the halftime adjustment of pushing his fullbacks into Liverpool's half. Naturally 2 minutes into the 2nd half Luiz is forced into dealing with Salah 1v1 and hilarity ensues.
