The Premier League has also suffered from the financial clout of the Spanish giants.

I was talking to one of my friends about this the other day and he mentioned that at the end of the day, Barca and Real will always be the top destination for most players. When the call comes, you have to answer that call. I think it's this: guaranteed UCL football every year, platform for Ballon D'or considerations, history of success.

Even a player like VVD would probably go to Barca if and when they call for him.

There are only two options for other European leagues in the future; either create a European superleague or rebrand their leagues allowing middle table teams to flourish and create a competitive league.

But see this is what Champs League essentially is. Right now the same mega clubs are tipped to win the cup year after year. Also, a closed UCL like some people are advocating just destroys the competition.

We’re playing so shyte we’re making this lot look like they can actually play football. :snoop:

Hope this is the last game lustig plays for us. He was a good player in his day but it seems like he’s at fault for every single goal we concede these days. He’s just too fukkin old and slow now.

Kill yo self

Lol. how old are you?
Dinho was a movement compared to this chump.

Not even going to argue, it's an opinion.
People just find it hard to put youngins over old heads, same way some people think Messi and Ronaldo haven't surpassed some old heads :yeshrug:

If Ronaldinho was balling during this era, he'd be Neymar status. Extremely good, but not Messi and Ronaldo level :yeshrug:

The Premier League has also suffered from the financial clout of the Spanish giants.

David Beckham moved to Spain. van Nistelrooy moved to Spain. Thierry Henry moved to Spain. Arjen Robben moved to Spain. Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Spain. Fabregas moved to Spain. Mascherano moved to Spain. Xabi Alonso moved to Spain. Bale moved to Spain. Modric moved to Spain. Luis Suarez moved to Spain. Coutinho moved to Spain. Hazard is about to move to Spain. You could make a competitive PL all time best XI just out of players bought by Barcelona and Real Madrid. Going the other way, the PL only bought La Liga players from lesser teams like Torres and Aguero, or rejects from the big two like Makelele, Deco, Robinho and Pedro.

Spain has consistently taken all the best Premier League players, year after year, for the last 20 years. Losing that much star power has definitely weakened the Premier League on the pitch as well as off it in terms of marketing. But even though they constantly snatch up all the best players the PL just keeps growing. It's a juggernaut now :wow: you take all the best players and STILL Cardiff City vs Fulham makes more money than Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid :deadmanny:

Barcelona's wage bill is more than 1 million euros per month higher than Man City's, and still their fans blame the PL's money for its success :mjlol:

:mjlol: nope.

I see what you're getting at, but alot of those names you mentioned had reasons to why the players moved and not because a big bag was put in front of the club and too tempting to take.

Becks, RVN and Xabi fell out with the manager
Also RVN and Henry were 30, and we're on the decline.
Robben was deemed too lightweight.

And some of the transfers the other way had reasons behind them as well.

Makelele cost cutting by Perez
Deco only signed because of Big Phil.
Robinho wanted to escape any means necessary, after Real tried to include him in the C dot deal and both player and club wanted to move on and Citeh were the only ones who made the move for him.
David Silva and Aguero moves happened because their teams refused to sell to Real.
Torres wanted to go to Liverpool.

And the PL didn't take a hit from losing players with marketing, because they kept on getting bigger international deals, after. If it was weakened foreign broadcasters would be low balling, not increasing offers.

I don't think it's gonna be as dramatic as some are hoping for. I think City will score in the first 15 mins and put the game to bed by HT.

Dortmund will never have an easier year to win the league and they blew every opportunity. Bayern winning the league by default.

Ajax and PSV though :ohhh:
