Also, is their a League equivalent to the Heineken Cup?

Not really.

You have the Super League which is the English teams + 1 French team. Thats pretty much the European Super League. Like I said League is pretty much a local sport compared to Union.

They also have the World Club Challenge which is the Winners from The Super League vs The Winners of the Convicts League.

Then the convicts also have the State of Origin, where all the best players from 2 states play against each other. They decide who plays for which state by which state you 1st played senior rugby in, where you was born etc. All the players have to be eligible to play for the convicts @ international level.

Oh, so does Rugby League make any money in England, and do they just eventually lose all their best players to Union?

well u gonna act like u guys didnt catch barca at their worse moment in years tho?...the barca that chelsea/madrid played before was superior to the current one, dont over look that breh

The the best team ever, they have the greatest player ever to play the game. I know Bale & Suarez wouldnt of let their team just have 1 shot near the goal vs that Milan defence afterall they only have Jordan Henderson & Scott Parker passing them the ball

No pressure on the ball plus backline with no protection was always gonna be dangerous against Ronaldo.

If we make the same mistake on Sunday, Bale will have a field day. Even Defoe was enjoying himself at Emirates against our slow back line and refusing to close down motherfukking midfield.

Some people get entirely too happy about that result when up to Adebayor getting sent off it was probably the most frightening performance under Wenger.

Spurs fans are still defending Adebayor off those 20 minutes, the only good 20 minutes he's played this season.

I have no idea how relevant this is to this discussion, but thought you should know.

So Super League= Rugby League

Premiership= Union

Heineken Cup= Union

Yup

Oh, so does Rugby League make any money in England, and do they just eventually lose all their best players to Union?

Super League is shown on Sky and then the League FA Cup is shown on BBC as is the highlights of Super League. So League teams make their money from TV and Sponsorship deals and if a player is popular enough gets his endorsements. All the teams have a to work all wthin a Salary cap which is £1.6m. I think the Super League is sponsored by Irn Bru (Scottish Drinks firm, 2nd most famous drink in Scotland after Scotch), while the Premiership is sponsored by one of the biggest, if not the biggest Insurances companies in Britain. Thats the difference levels the codes are on when it comes to money

Before Union went Pro, the best Union players use to go to League thats where the money was, but then as soon as Union went pro, money started coming into Union and slowly but surely it started being the other way. The 1st steps of cross code players started when Wigan (League) & Bath (Union) played 2 cross code matches vs each other back in the mid 90's to see whose code was better. From that point onwards, league players caught the eye of Union teams and more so the England coaches who needed the better ball handers/athletes. So they started giving the League players bigger contracts and alot of the best players did swap League for Union. But quite a few of the players couldnt adjust to all the intricacies of the rucks, mauls and scrummaging, so after a couple of years they went back to League. Plus Union is more continous in its play as you dont have the 6 phases/down but the play is more slower, while League is more fast paced.

But right now the most talented Rugby player in Britain is Sam Tomkins (Wigan) he plays League and everyone wants him. The League people want him to stay in England, The Convicts League people want him to play down there and THe Union teams/England want him aswell. His brother left League (he played for Wigan aswell) about 12-18 motnhs ago to join England and hes now close to gettin a full England cap in Union. League players joining Union teams usually get fast tracked thru the system.

The same thing happend with the Convicts and Kiwis, they started getting more League players. (The Kiwis finally got all the Pacific Islander/Mauris players they missed out on the 1st time) But I'm not sure if this happened at the same time as when England were doing it or if it was happening before.

US/Canada U-20s on Fox Soccer for a spot in the World Cup.

I remember the last match against Guatemala, horrible conditions and against an away crowd, wasn't fair tbh but luck of the draw. Then the U-23 failure. Hopefully today puts a stop to all that.

lol at people saying Celtic and Milan broke Barca.

This has been a one man mission ever since Inter lost at the Camp Nou. Indeed it will probably be seen as a pyrrhic victory at times but it will always be Mourinho who broke Barca.

Interesting, so at some point, League is gonna have to merge with Union, like the AFL, and some teams in ABA did?

Is the Rugby League WC given the attention, that the Union WC gets.

I thought you said this was bullshyt yesterday :dwillhuh:

Of course it was bullshyt, you sound like you got that quote from 'A guide to football leagues' from 1995.

Times have changed, ain't much difference in leagues these days honestly. Yes some leagues are faster, and the refs do tend call the games differently.

But all this nonsense about how some leagues are more blah, blah, that's just people who trying too hard to sound like football smarties.
