The only example I have is Kolo Toure who was never the same after catching malaria. But some Arsenal fans will say the decline had already kicked in pre malaria.

With that said I did say Arsenal should of moved on from him after the FA Cup Win. I've always agreed with the Logan's Run principle when it comes to football
