If the player gets his foot on the ball first then it's fine.. It doesn't matter if the other player trips in the process

If you miss the ball and get the player it's a foul

Depends mostly on what the slide hits first. If it's the ball, we good.

Sometimes I see a dude slide and trip somebody with the ball and sometimes it's a foul and sometimes it isn't. I don't get it. Somebody explain

A good rule of thumb is ball first = no foul but if you go out there tackling recklessly with studs up then it will be a foul and a potential yellow card regardless of touching the ball first
