Still plenty of time for Germany to win this. Spain really ain’t all that. That first game thrashing was an anomaly. :yeshrug:

this is why calling Pele the goat is :gucci:
Teams back then didnt know how to defend and some of them were playing with 5 strikers and 2 defenders.
Today even amateur teams like San marino, malta and leichtenstein, know some basic defending. they're not getting battered 6-0 every game like they did 10-15 years ago.
PPl dont realise how much this game has evolved
Nah Pele was that dude. I do believe team tactics and individual fitness evolves but regardless of era, the quality of top level players can't be denied.

I feel like we overate modern footballers at times. I love this era but where are the magicians? Look at the last BallonD'or finalists. How many of them stand out as absolute star players?

Football now is all about systems. A manager fitting specialist players into a rigid system where they're tasked with executing the same patterns over and over again. Not many of these players stand out on their own but they're the best players for that specific system.

Ancelotti's Madrid are the exception imo. That's a team filled with potential stars and he pretty much let's them express themselves.
