They should make it a running joke with Haan now though, almost as if they're acknowledging that he has to stay alive until the series officially connects to Tokyo Drift.

yeah I know, but at the time it was just one movie. The way it's looking, it may take 10+ years to get to Tokyo (or until the crew are officially ), so might as well continue to have Haan escaping these ridiculous deaths in an almost satirical way. Baddies: "Why can we never kill this a$$hole! "

They should just reorder Tokyo Drift back to before 4,5,&6. Shoot a new scene that takes place after that race Dom had at the end of Tokyo Drift where Hahn finds Dom letting him know that the yakuza are after him so he faked his death. Dom gets him out of Japan where Hahn now can go on these heists with the team. Maybe Fast 7 or 8, the yakuza find out Hahn is alive with all this money and they plot their revenge against Hahn & Dom

They should. Then they can say that they accidentally put the "alternate ending" in the theatrical/DVD release, but Haan didn't die/Dom never went to Tokyo in the official one. Problem solved.

Ya'll are forgetting that he's in 4 and goes to Japan after leaving the Dominican Republic so of course everyone (including the director of the damn movie) knows he's going off to his death......but then goes to Brazil in 5 like "Nah, not yet "

They've just gotta deal with the fact that out of all the characters introduce in Drift, the only one people cared about was killed off.

Not the first time they've done it in the series, either. When the first came out Jessie and that clean ass Jetta was the best character, but he got hit up.

Well in fairness it was a Drift-Off, so by that time Dom will be so I doubt he'll be able to pull off drifting around Mall parking lot corners.

He'll be the one "granny shiftin' not double clutchin" this time around.
