Do people even like Stephen A Smith like that? He always seemed like a manufactured star that ESPN just decided to push. His show with Skip was entertaining but after Skip left I didn't see a reason to continue watching.

Idk he seems to be expanding his profile. Got the big payday from ESPN. Now he's hosting Jimmy Kimmel and making appearances on Black-ish and General Hospital. I didn't envision him doing any of those things a couple of years ago. Not sure how long this lasts. I don't get why he decided to do Stephen A's World if he's about to kick Max into the bushes and make him the sole focus of First take with guest debaters. I get that ESPN is looking to expand the ESPN+ platform but it seems a bit redundant at this point.

Lebatard said last week that SAS likes Max but hates all the nuance arguments he tries to make.
Soon as he said it he texted SAS to see if he shouldn’t have said it out loud.
SAS called him while he was on air but Dan left the comment in the podcast so I’m guessing SAS told him it was a done deal say what you want about Max.
If true, what a terrible reason for wanting someone gone :mindblown:

I don't have a problem with him when he's "out of character" and actually himself when not on ESPN television. It's the same case with Skip when you see him break character in that he's not bad at all. They know what the people want and drives them to watch, so they troll and do what they do for entertainment.

Deep down I don't think they like it based on their previous backgrounds, but they embrace it because it's made them millions by doing so.

Actually that’s exactly what Dan says SAS wants, just dumb arguments that don’t require much thought

Cause dumb arguments equals higher viewings of the show and clips. Which in turn keeps ESPN getting paid and in turn Stephen A keeps getting paid.

In other words.....

Has any professional athlete failed up as much as Tebow in relation to how bad they were at their sport?
