I personally wish more superstar players thought like this

Lebron already got 2 rings , he shouldn't wait like Jordan til he over 40 trying to play for a team he partially owns

These dudes should go hard for a couple rings from year 1-10 and after 30 years old while they got some game left superstars should start asking for percentages of the team

Small market teams would benefit greatly from this. Those teams normally struggle to get stars there but if they start coming off of 2-6% of the team plus a annual salary you could convince a superstar to join. This is how you counter the Donald sterling a of the world. The owners willing to come off of stock in the team get the players.

Dudes are really overrating the decision letter like Gilbert called him ****** or something :russ:
Only thing untrue was predicting the Cavs would win a chip before Miami.

Cats talmbout public apologies and selling the team, Gilbert's one of the wealthiest men in the world, you think he really gives a fukk? The Cavs ain't even his cash cow. He's got a max deal apology paycheck waiting for LeBron, money talks louder than anything else
EXACTLY

This may circumvent the salary cap rules but yes....this is the way to go. Owners might be shook. Then again, there are only a handful of players that can even make this type of power move.

Yea but rules can change and the players need to work on changing them

Even if they stick to the set salary cap but green light selling up to 5% of the team. That means said player gets a check from that team forever as long as it's profit. You got all these non basketball guys getting checks from these teams why not the guys who actually deliver the profit past overhead expenses. Right now why shouldn't rose and Noah get a chance to buy 2-3% of the bulls when they are the reason Jerry is getting 60 mill in profit? Superstars could create great leverage for themselves if they started to demand this.

Bron would have done more for the players than MJ, Kobe, and Magic if he sets this precedent.

Maybe he should run for president of the NBAPA. He will need to supplement his education to be prepared for the role....maybe. But he definitely is not scared to face these owners.

He was about to become prez last vacancy but decided not to because of the additional commitment.

I thought there was a rule that you couldn't own a piece of a team and play for said team? At that point, it would just be a PROMISE to sell/give the player a piece after their career was over, and there's never a guarantee on that.

Isn't that essentially what happened with Mike and the Wizards? He had to sell his part of the team in order to play, and when he retired, Abe Pollin wouldn't sell it back to him or something like this? I could be completely offbase on this though.
