Was at G'Town yesterday to get my phone fixed at the Apple Store. While waiting on the repair, I met the most boule ass nikka at this one Thai restaurant. Dude was hilarious in that he was so absorbed in himself and status it was comical little things like:
"Ohh no, we couldn't move to Bethesda. We have to be at the center of action and nightlife. Bethesda is just too far away. Now Arlington, we could do"
"There were a lot of Pookie and Ray-Rays around that brought down the home value"
"Ohh yes, the shops, the shops. Always something to buy when you need that retail therapy"
Married to a Filipina by the way.
Anyway, he'd put me on to some game about G'Town and the changing landscape. He said retailers are struggling in G'Town. As a whole, the area isn't what it used to be. U-St and AdMo really ate into it's clientele. Now G'Town is "come for lunch/brunch" and be out by 8pm. He also said the real-estate in that side of town has slowed down big time (he has a general contracting firm).
I exchanged contacts with the dude still. This game is all about connections.
I digress, the opportunity for DC and the larger DMV if definitely East of 16th and the Anacostia River. This Purple line is also gonna be a game changer. They've started construction in New Carrollton and have cleared some land at the CP station.
