I think the difference is the old guard (Hansen, Galloway, Bayless, Luksa, etc.) were already established in Dallas way before Jerry bought the team. So, they never viewed Jerry as something special. To them, he was the Arkansas hick that lucked into buying the Cowboys and he was now the custodian of America's Team. Fast forward to today, you have a bunch of drones covering the team, many of whom are transplants to the city. Much like a fresh out of college analyst getting a job at Goldman Sachs, they are probably pinching themselves every day that they get to cover this team and just don't want to mess it up. Look at how they giggle at Jerry's stale colloquialisms, most of them are in awe of him. Totally different mindset from the old guard who deep down always viewed Jerry as a buffoon/outsider.
