Surprisingly one bullet dodged was that he didn’t buy a house after he got married. If you buy a house in Cali you have to split that with your spouse in the divorce. I remember people saying that him renting an apartment all those years was dumb and a waste, but he probably figured she was going to leave eventually and if he’s paying all the bills it’s cheaper in the long run than paying the full cost of a house, only to give half the value of it to someone else.

A house in California is an easy 700k. I couldn’t imagine being 52 years old and writing a $350k check to someone, then having to buy another house, especially right now.

And from the sounds of things in the last episode, it sounds like she was taking his money and buying things and stashing them away for herself in a trust without him knowing. He basically married Carmella Soprano Ginger McKenna hybrid.
