Just to diverge slightly on the fall of another great comic.
I know The Coli don't fux with anything CACish, but when i discovered the genius of Patrice O'Neal years ago, i discovered a really funny comic who was very close friends with Patrice, named William.. Known to the masses as Bill Burr. His stand up was good, but his podcast is when his comedic brain reached the next level of funny.
I went through about a year or 2 of not listening to Bill 2014-2016, when i checked for him again he'd blown up in white mainstream America
.
He had segments on Conan that had 5-10 million hits, he was touring and selling out European Arenas etc (all should be great right?)...
When i relistened to his Podcast, Bill Burr, Mr fukk Society /Angry White Man had become an utter and complete Hollywood shill. His views on everything were borderline "trying to keep all parties happy and not fukk up his newly acquired riches and fame" . He'd become so timid and stagnant that it was impossible for me to listen to his Podcast, impossible
, what happened to the Bill Burr from 2007-2012?
His podcast is so wack now, he's so p*ssy whipped his relationship advice stinks (shocking when you consider he was friends with Patrice), every 3-4 months I'll try and play the Monday Morning Podcast(trying to restore the feeling
) and it's utterly garbage compared to the off the cuff shyt Bill was saying pre 2012. Is it the fame
Lastly I've seen Bill Burr become a "I love and respect everyone in the industry" shill.
E.g. "Tom Papa is a friend of mine and a very funny comic".. Tom Papa is one of the corniest wack comics who's gotten a ton of gigs for decades thanks to his close relationship with Jerry Seinfeld, Papa is not and has never been a respected funny comic. 2008 Bill would never say no ass kissing shyt like that.
Is it the money? The newfound fame? Getting older and having a kid? Is it his whiteness? Or all the above.
5150 Trivia :Bill Burr was on the 5150 Show in 2010 on Foxxhole when it was still at Cango Room and they had a studio audience. That episode is online somewhere
Show topic was "What responsibility do you have as a woman to the chick who's man you're smashing?"
