Coming to you from the vigilant studios of KPFA in Berkeley California this is Flashpoints.

First up, the Haitian press is reporting that this past Sunday at least thirty protesters were killed in Haiti by police and govt-sponsored gangs working together to squash protests demanding an end to the current govt and the resignation of President Jovenel Moise. Then we turn our attention to the first of two nights of back-to-back Democratic party debates beginning tonight in Miami, Florida. We speak with Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin for her views about the chances for peace offered by the 2020 presidential candidates of the Democratic Party.

I know I sound like a broken record but I think people underestimate or do not grasp how big of a deal it is that Haiti has zero diplomatic relations with China but is stuck with Taiwan. China is the second largest economy in the entire world. 12.24 trillion USD. More importantly they have been behind many infrastructure projects in developing nations which have developed their economies especially in Africa where I seen first hand. China clearly wants to find alternative consumer market from the USA/West. China wants to find an alternative to this...

Which is why its going after Africa, other Asian countries and the Caribbean/Latin America. Haiti can easily replicate the Rwandan model(but better imo) with the help from China.


This is why I keep saying its a must that Haiti ditches Taiwan and fast as possible... With China's help Haiti doesn't even need to depend on tourism.

Taiwan excludes Haiti and calls on only four major allies to "continue to plead its integration into the UN"

Monday, January 28, 2019 ((rezonodwes.com)) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edmond Bocchit, in an interview with Rezo Nòdwès, announced in mid-January the second phase of signing a loan of $ 150 million for the implementation of electricity 24/24 and now that January is over, it is still nothing. Meanwhile, Taiwan, it seems, does not rely on Haitian diplomacy to integrate into the UN.

On January 24, the Taiwanese government received a delegation of permanent representatives to the United Nations from four diplomatic allies of Taiwan, represented mainly by Melusi Martin Masuku of Eswatini Kingdom, Tukabu Tauati of Kiribati, Deborah Barker-Manase of Marshall Islands, and Fakasoa Tealei of Tuvalu.

And you know whats worst breh? Go on social media websites like Facebook, Youtube and even Instagram many Haitian celebrities/musicians, bloggers, Youtubers(like that cornball Haitian Bokor who I thought was cool), etc are either Duvalierist or PHTK party supporters.

^^Many Haitians on social media like this one exist. Before I thought you were being harsh and even unreasonable when you said Haitians shouldn't trust the diaspora/Haitian-Americans and now I understand. Of course its not all of the Haitian diaspora... As a significant amount of Haitian-Americans/Diaspora have also been putting in A LOT of work from Ezili Danto to Madame Boukman however we can not ignore the fact that the diaspora also has significant Duvalier fans.

A young man died yesterday during the strike in #Haiti — many, including local radio, accusing the police of executing him. The police have yet to deny the accusation cc @pnh_officiel
