Blue Marvel has got to go. I hope they shift characters and give the second arc to Monica or Ms. America, cause I'm sick of him. I will not purchase until he is no longer the central character. He's hella boring
I'm doing the same. Ewing Killed Mighty Avengers for me when he focused on Blue Marvel so I dropped that also.

ANAD Avengers #4 was a major step up. I almost feel they should've made this "issue #1" to be honest lol, (with slight tweaks of course). Like take that fanfic part by Kamala, that was gold, awesome misdirection, and the reveal that LadyThor/SamCap had actually kissed would've been a great initial hook to readers. Plus "evil" Vision screwing over Kamala, the dynamic between the dismissive adults and the emotional kids, the Kang reveal at the end, and then SamCap learning Jane Foster's identity...

That would've been a great kick-off issue imo, with the Kamala/Nova short story at the end. Then in the ensuing issues, just do some brief flashbacks to show how the team got together, since i honestly dont think anyone really cared about that first 2-part story arc.

But as things currently are, I like that Waid is finally warming things up

Black Panther, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Emma Frost, Dr. Strange, Spectrum, Black Bolt

At this point, I'd rather have the above be the Ultimates or the new Illuminati. Basically everybody who played a part in arguably fukking the world over the past few years coming together out of guilt (or pride) to rectify their wrongs, with Spectrum being a team leader/moral compass since she's the only one unaffiliated with any of the mess.

So instead of ignoring the elephant in the room like ANAD has done so far, I'd have had T'Challa, Tony, Stephen and Blackagar have a very serious follow up convo about everything that transpired, with Wanda and Emma attending to acknowledge they too have had their cosmic/reality-warping blunders. And Monica present to pretty much put em all on blast.

Kang.....AGAIN?!

Marvel needs to kill him off for a couple of yrs.

Vision solo book (and his behavior in ANAD Avengers) reads like "Virtigo" title.

Apocalypse Wars looks like it's gone b BUTT

I think sometimes it's better to be strategic.

Like I would rather have Monica be seen as a capable leader in the presence of Black Panther and other B to A list characters (even if that means a number of them being white) in a book that does 60k+ sales a month and is centerpiece in major Marvel events... than her being wallpaper status in a low selling book that focuses on a couple D-list characters and has two B-listers that frankly would consider the rest of their teammates to be a step back in their brand building (when compared to the A-list characters they'll be interacting with in movies, cartoons and big events).

Like T'Challa in Hickman's NA or Luke Cage in Bendis's a decade prior, Monica needs to be back on an A-list Avengers team in a quasi leadership-type role spanning a couple big events to warm her character back up and put her in classic 'modern' stories that are transferable concepts for other media; like how Civil War is.

Like if I wanted a more non-white cast as a traditional/flag ship Avengers book (keeping it B to A list), then i'd probably just take a mesh of the movie lineups and roll out something like: Falcon Cap, Black Panther, Vision, Iron Man, Amadeus-Hulk ... and fill out the rest of the team with whatever combination of popular Marvel females; maybe a Scarlett Witch, maybe a Ms Marvel, or Lady Thor, etc.
