To the new vinyl collectors, be careful about buying reissues. Reissues are nothing more than music lifted off of cds with the volume pushed up to the point of peaking in some cases. I have some reissues and original vinyl and the reissues sound like shyt. Unless they are re mastering from the ORIGINAL 2" reels, it aint an official remaster. And these record labels are so cheap, no one is gonna pay an engineer for 2 weeks worth of work in that he has to pull all these original 2" reels out, remaster each song one by one, then they have to get them mastered which can be $1000+ per song. It's a scam. A lot of new engineers don't even know how to reel machines anymore :lol but I'm assuming that some labels have actually converted them over digitally. I'm only assuming.

Pre-ordered Maxwell’s Embrya on white vinyl this evening. Can’t wait to have it in my hands.

C/S. Don't fall for the gimmicks. Do some research before copping expensive reissues.

I've been mostly lucky so far, but I did get a reissue of Midnight Marauders that sounded like garbage. It was basically unlistenable. Lots of surface noise, recording volume was flat and sound was compressed.

Other than that, I've been pretty lucky. I've taken a chance on a few jazz reissues that ended up being alright. At this point, I think its impossible to avoid reissues that have a digital source. Some of them sound fine or even great. I don't buy that record nerd stuff about analogue tapes always sounding better than a digital source. I think it has more to do with the mastering. But if we know anything about the music industry its that they are all about a quick buck and love fukking over consumers. Some (many?) reissues are literally just a vinyl pressing of the CD.

TA13OO coming tomorrow :Stylesamazed:
Dude I bought the live version of illmatic from sent it in fukking bubble wrap. :Kanyewow:

The corners of the album cover were creased. :to:

I usually buy my Vinyl directly from amazon because the packaging is always A1, but the one I originally wanted wouldn’t ship for at least a month :why:

So I bought another one instead from a third party seller. Never Again. :mjcry:

The album’s amazing tho.

Embrya and Dirty Computer are on the way to me.

I’m also considering copping Stepping Into Tomorrow by Donald Byrd (Vinyl Me, Please exclusive blue and purple vinyl).
