Please do! Did you travel alone?

Yeah I traveled solo and had no problems doing so.

I visited Cairo, Aswan and Luxor during my 2 weeks visit.

I flew in to Cairo and stayed there for a few days, I arrived at like 4am in the morning. Luckily uber operates in this city (the only one in Egypt) which saved me the hassle of being ripped off by the cabbies at the airport. It's about a 40 minute drive into downtown and costs about 10 USD. I stayed at a hotel in Giza, i remember the taxi turning a corner and seeing the Great Pyramid for the first time :wow: other sights seem insignificant in comparison.

I visited the Pyramids in Dashur/Saqqara also which are just as impressive as those in Giza imo and far less touristy. Although saying that the Giza Pyramids seem to have more Egyptians visiting than tourists, found that strange for such monumental structures. Where as If you go to the Grand Palace in Bangkok there's barely any place to stand. Tickets for most sites are around $7-$15 and it cost extra if you want to go inside the pyramids. Also did horse riding in the dessert but you need be an experienced rider to really make it worth it.

In Luxor I rode a hot air balloon over the Valley of the Kings which was the cheapest I've seen anywhere at only $60. You will be approached plenty of times by horse carriage riders which are really cheap but you need to brush up on your negotiating skills. Luxor has the most ancient sites in all of Egypt, including the mummy of King Tut which costs $25 to visit on top of the entry fee. Luxor is really worth visiting if you are a history buff other than that not so much.

Finally, in Aswan there are several island scattered across the river Nile so its the perfect place to take a felucca ride but make sure to negotiate the final price up front. This place has the most beautiful view of the Nile in the country, in Cairo its more polluted and it shows. I also visited a Nubian village which was meh, its just like any other village.

Overall Egypt is enjoyable with a few caveats. Decreasing tourist number have led to more aggressive and less dishonest touts. You need to know some basic arabic, especially if travelling solo. Otherwise it is best to get a guide where possible. Not many people speak English in the country. Food is cheap af but the menues are always in arabic unless you are in an overpriced tourist joint.

I have Scott's Cheap Flights Premium version, and I'm gonna drop all the current deals out there for the brehs who wanna do spontaneous trips.

Check google flights to see if your home airport is listed. I'll drop the deal for 5 major airports (if the deal has 5+), but there's way too many to list for some places.

Just booked a solo Bday November trip to Toronto, NY, and Philly for under $800 including housing :wow:

St. Thomas (STT): $200s - Low $300s (RT, Bags Extra) - Feb to May/Aug to Oct
JFK & LGA - $283
SFO - $333
RDU - $296
MIA - $229 direct
LAS - $309
Airlines - American, Delta, JetBlue

Paris (CDG): $272 (RT, Bags Extra) MAR to MAY/SEP to JAN (Christmas & NYE included)
BOS - $272
LAX - $271
Airlines - American, British Airways

Rome - $263 (RT, Bags Extra) APR to MAY/AUG to SEP
SFO & San Jose - $263
Airlines - American, British Airways, Iberia

Toronto - $200s/Low 300s (RT, Bags Extra) Mar to May/Sep to Jan
(this one has almost every major airport available). Highest ticket was $340 (Palm Springs), lowest was $181 (NYC) and $208 (Dallas)

there's 3 more for Cape Town ($577), Australia ($612) , and Dublin (400-500s), but I have to get back to work.

Eat brehs!

Just about to post about that.. That flight may be worth it.. :unimpressed:
No reason not to take advantage.
If yall young and able bodied, this virus ain't doing nothing to you (if you even catch it).

I'm planning a trip to NYC for a few days in June. The plan is to drive down to New Jersey and hop on a train for the last stretch to avoid city traffic/parking.

I'm looking at one of the station's on the Montclair-Boonton Line as it goes right to Penn Station. Any recommendations on a particular station to get on, or any other feedback would be great.
