I’m flying from Dubai to Ethiopia. I have the option for business class Kenyan airlines with 11hr stopover... like 400 dollars. Compared to straight flight to Ethiopia economy for 280.

I was just wondering is the Nairobi stopver worth it???

Rio Update #3

Brazil is a country full of prototypes. Hands down the most beautiful people I’ve seen on earth:wow::wow::wow:

a Brazilian 7 is an American 12

Saw two helicopter rescues at Ipanema Beach yesterday lol. The water there is deceiving...looks pretty mellow, but mad riptides I guess

I came here solo, but ended running into some people I know from DC and been kicking it with them.

Pro-tip: DO NOT book a regular hotel here in Rio if you want to bring in visitors. Most hotels have a strict no visitor policy. I forgot this and booked a hotel...so I got an Airbnb too while here. Found an oceanfront spot for $62/night....must have been a last min cancellation. Now I have two places, one in Ipanema for when I party, and one in Copa for the hoes:mjgrin:

:ehh:
How you like Lebanon? I stayed there for like 6months for work but I really couldn’t get out like I wanted to. I went out a couple times in Beirut and another small city.

I’m going back for a week in August for a wedding tho.
Loved it, I’ll probably be back again in June/July too if the French embassy can sort us out again. Got to meet Syrian Refugees from Aleppo and around the whole region, which I’d like to focus my work on telling their stories.

For me, anytime I go some where totally new, I must get out. So, the morning after I got in, I went out at walked the coast all the way around to the western tip and swung back into the neighborhoods to see things with my own eyes. Then the next day I ran that same path; up those hills and past those Lebanese army posts all around the dock.

People were friendly as hell to me too. The only thing I regret is not knowing any Arabic before I came there. Like, none. It’s something I have to change.

That’s probably the biggest thing I took away from my week there; I need to learn more so I can communicate with people all over. It’s (Beirut) is becoming one of my favorite cities

What work u doing? Journalist?

And yea man I liked it too. I didn’t walk as far as you but I like to walk around and get the real feel of a city. Taste the local food and coffee shops. I mostly stayed in the Hamra area Lebanon’s a beautiful country and good people. People was so friendly I thought they was up to no good. I had this taxi driver invite me and my homie to his house for shisha I thought that was weird but we said fukk it and went. We smoked shisha and drinked with him on his rooftop. I went to the club and it was all love too.

I feel you in the Arabic thing. I never really had too many problems without knowing it tho. But if u talking to refugees and stuff I can see how it would be better.

Yea all in all Beirut is dope.

Musician and artist.

I was there to perform at the music hall. I stayed In Hamra as well, not too far from AUB. Pretty much, the hotel we stayed at use to be another building before the last time isreal bombed the city and everything around the hotel looked warzone like but that’s my thing. Like, I never want to feel unsafe in any part of this planet, so seeing these conditions and knowing people around me experiences this made me want to be there even more.

The contact at the embassy brought the refugees to our show because he worked with them frequently in Bourj Hammoud. Younger adults too. Just to watch them get excited and get up and dance and lose control without care while we entertained them is why I do what I do, to bring happiness into people’s lives. Especially those with very few reasons to be happy

Depends on what you want to do. If you wanna head into town, grab a few drinks and party then it might be worth it, however, 11 hours is a little bit in no man's land as it concerns coming out into the city and doing things.

Might take you like 1 hour to land, get a visa, sim and get into town. You'll probably want to give yourself a 3 hour buffer for your return leg. That leaves you with 7 hours. Depending on when you're flight is, it maybe worth it. If you have an early morning flight (5-8 am) then I'd say go for it. You can party in town and head straight to the airport after a night out. Board and pass out on the place. Wake up and you in Dubai.

Oh, 19hrs, yea that's prime amount of time then. Definitely check out Brew Bistro in Westlands. Very very nice bar. Get some Nyama Choma (barbecued meat essentially) as well man. That thing be hitting heavy, very very. I suggest "Njuguna", a well known local spot. I went there for my 23rd birthday.

Washed the nyama choma with some Tusker beer :whew:

I'm definitely getting back to Nairobi soon. Connected with a lot of cool people out there.

Rio Update #4

Was eating dinner on the sidewalk along the main drag in Ipanema. Heard what I first thought was firecrackers...but seen people running. It was first single shooter shots, then multiple auto rounds. I dipped out on the people I was chilling with :mjgrin:and ran inside a bank I saw people run into.

:wow::wow::wow::wow:

I’ve seen multiple phone snatches..especially on the beach. It becomes thing where groups of guys chase the thief down and beats their ass.

Saw one young dude with 4 phones in his hand. :lolbron:

This sounds crazy, but I still love this place and will be returning next year.

Random thought and FYI.... If you are going to buy tickets in Spain for soccer matches, WAIT absolutely until they confirm the date and time of the matches, because it will fukk your itinerary all the way up!!!! Multiple times too.

Had to spend more money on a train ride from Madrid to Barcelona because FC Barcelona announced the Espanyol match for 4:15 on March 30 instead of the match being on the 31st. I'll be in Madrid, but my flight for Barcelona isn't until 6pm that night. So I lost money on that connection flight that I ain't taking....

Next my trip to Valencia is in jeopardy because I may not be able to book an AirBnB for the dates I have left in Spain(Valencia is a hot spot). I had a dope ass spot near the beach, but I have to be in Barcelona on April 6 for the Atletico Madrid match. Have to cancel that because the host doesn't any dates left before I have to return to Barcelona to go home.

shyt is infuriating!
