Been doing a month long marathon with my wife and watching stuff we've seen, stuff we haven't, stuff only one of us has, and shows like Twin Peaks and Stranger things. Would you guys consider A Clockwork Orange to fit the bill? I lean towards yes. It's not an outright horror but I mean Horus Pocus and BeetleGOATjuice are on the list. Then again they're definitely in the spirit of Halloween.
I don't consider A Clockwork Orange to be horror but I also don't consider Silence of the Lambs to be horror either and most people would probably disagree with me.:manny:

Yeah I wouldn’t call clockwork horror but silence of the lambs definitely. But we’ve had that talk before. I’m of the belief “thriller” is just a term Hollywood made because horror is too ugly and demonized for them. Thriller allows them to give props to things they ordinarily wouldn’t and feel good about it

The first season was a disappointment so I didn't check this time around but will now that a few posters are co-signing it.

Yeah the first season had a few moments, but I lost interest in it fairly quickly. This one had my attention right away, and has kept getting better.

Also, it was filmed in my city, and i've enjoyed picking out the familiar spots.

The bluray board has a 50 horror movie halloween challenge every year. People just list and rate the movies they peeped.

I'll never peep that many.

But so far this month I've seen

Gerald's Game (****)
Scream 2 (*** 1/2)
Casper (:heh:) (***)
Halloween (78) (**** 1/2)
1408 (theatrical cut on showtime, only place that has it) (****)

I think Clockwork Orange fits the bill tho. It definitely makes people uneasy and can play on somebody fears. I think the rape scene alone should qualify it.

Finished "Gerald's Game", which I remember reading in November 2003 when I was 17, at my cousin's house on Thanksgiving, felt awful, had been doing coke everyday, and was just worn out and a mess. I went into his room and found this book and read the whole thing that afternoon, which was disturbing and strange on top of everything else, but captivating.

I think the adaptation worked very well, hard to to watch multiple times towards the end, visceral reactions to the cutting. I think Flannagan's direction is a little flat and sterile, but he's very good at this. I don't know about the dude snapping off the cuffs, I was waiting for her to wake back up in the cabin. I remember the book being a lot more detailed about Gerald's abuse and power control issues, but it's been like 15 years since I read it, may be time to pick up a copy.

Did you see it?

Regardless tho I’m catching it :russ: I love the concept and have to see it on the strength of that alone

Yeah at a screening, almost forgot about it until I saw an ad :heh:

Without spoiling anything, it's a movie that's been let down by it's rating and tone. It struggles in-between two tones and gets lost
