Right.

That's why I'm not even going to bother with Plex anymore. Had a great run, but :camby:

This is what I'm on now...

I've tried it with mkv files and the quality is excellent and I didn't have any issues with it playing straight through. Also, the remote/app that you have on your phone is easier to work with than with a server.

:salute:

I'm gonna try it out.

:patrice: Yeah, can't have the media server trippin' on me. I remember one revision of the PS3 Media Server had me watching shyt on my computer.
ps3 media server still has me eating well. i had to get a new smart tv since mine crapped out and it recognizes ps3 ms and i just play em thru that.

but for the other room with my chromecast videostream is goat.. it just requires me to restart it a lot by unplugging and re plugging in my chromecast sometimes to get going.. maybe because of the distance idk.but it works great

You install the Letmewatch app to your Plex server. Download the Plex app to your phone and use that to cast Plex to your TV.
I know plex has loyal supporters buts its so damn convuluted compared to videostream which is just click and play.. gotta pay for the app or find the apk sign up for the server. install apps.. im tech savvy but it gives me a headache im like :camby:

It takes only 5 minutes just follow the instructions. Video stream is great though, much easier to download videos then push them to the TV.

in case some of you missed it in the official thread

here are the new features available for Chromecast

Wi-Fi-free Casting
The first notable change is designed to make it easier for others to cast content to a nearby Chromecast device without needing to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Instead, users will be able to ‘cast’ content through the cloud via their mobile data plan or while using an alternative means of connection.

Backdrop
Also coming this summer is a new ‘ambient experience’ called Backdrop. This feature lets you customise the images that appear on the screen when idle. Using the Chromecast app, owners will be able to personalise the slideshow with photos from a Google+ album, or by selected one of several ‘topics’ — curated images and information including news, weather and featured images from Google.

Android Mirroring
Last, but by no means least, was news many had been pining for: the ability to ‘mirror’ an Android screen to a TV so that all apps, media and content can be viewed large.
The ‘cast screen’ feature uses a custom protocol made by Google to reduce latency and limit the number of frame drops. It allows virtually anything to be shared to a big screen.
This feature, which requires an update to Google Play Services, will roll out as a beta for selected devices, including the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, in the coming weeks.
