i just looked this thing up and smart TVs already do all the stuff it offers. in fact if you have a modern TV with smart features this device pretty much offers nothing. i guess it must be for people with old TVs.

True but controlling YouTube and streaming from bootleg sites had always been a hassle with a TV remote. Now you can use your phone or tablet to control these function.

Anybody looking into this Chromecast device should look up a Raspberry Pi. that is no doubt where Google got this idea from. A Raspberry Pi cost about the same as this but is an actual computer you can install an OS on like Android or Linux.

yes my tv has net flix, youtube and will stream stuff via DLNA from my laptop (when ever they chose to see each other)but I cant mirror my desktop via wireless hdmi tho. I could buy a widi adapter for my tv (this laptop has widi built in) but chromecast seems to be a cheaper alternative.

Yea expect for the lil detail that

1. You have to program to do every function that this already does out the box

2. It looks like this

pi1l.jpg

3. You need to add few extra parts to get full functionality

Once you factor all that in you have a device that cost more and MIGHT work, if it was programmed correctly

Raspberry Pi is slow and buggy

I got one laying around here somewhere that I dont use

If you got a Pi how come you ain't already up on all these features, bruhhhh? Connect that shyt up and you can send anything to your TV, plus use it stand-alone with all the artwork to your movies and music. The Pi will play 1080p files flawlessly.

If you don't know what you're doing then I can see the appeal of a Chromecast stick, but if you've already got the equipment at home I don't know wtf you're doing buying extra shyt, especially to the point where you rush out to be an early-adopter.

But whatever, do you breh.
