not sure if it really effects south shore. they're gonna build the library right across from hyde park high school, so that's just north of 63rd street on stoney island. to be honest, it's barely in woodlawn.
I think washington park would have been the better choice because if you're looking for tourist to visit, they can take the L right there to washington park. there's no direct train to jackson park, so you'd have to either drive or take a combination of bus/train.
but this really sucks for the washington park residents. they got burned twice. once for the library and the other time was when they were talking bout putting the olympics there til we lost the bid.
