Lara isn't Rigo. He isn't as quick, his defense isn't as good, and he doesn't have that amazing ability that Rigo and Floyd have of turning great defense into great offense. He doesn't punish you for trying to press him like Rigo does. Lara moves away and lands here and there. And you're right: He's permanently stuck in that amateur fight winning style. It would take a Margarito, elite level stalking type fighter to bring a great fight out of Lara. And if he does get more active, he gets hit.

Rigo will have times where he moves away when he can counter, which is infuriating, but he is way more active offensively. Rigo breaks you down and strips your confidence away. He'll even stay in the pocket for good portions of fights. Boxers start to second guess themselves and they start to throw less and less, because they're being punished for being more active.

If Lara was as good as Rigo, it would've been a shutout.

Agreed 110% he's not Rigo. I was more implying that all the talking implied he would adjust to do something similar and counter/move and do the transitioning based on how MUCH he talked (cause the ability to do so for him is there I think, he's peeked and needs new direction) Heck even though Gamboa got KO'd (he really had no business in that weight class IMO) Lara would've been better served going out on his shield like he did....at least he would've looked like he wanted to win and raise his unknown stock.
