It looks like Normal is fighting the Japanese guy, so if Boots can't confirm a barrios fight for summer I'd finess my way into an IBF eliminator or WBA for a 154 debut based on status and then position for WBA 154 w Bud/vacant or IBF

this is why Norman Sr needs to stfu. he said they wanted 2mil but were only offered 1.7mil. I mean when you making 300k per fight....how do you let 300k difference kill a fight that if you win you will make twice off and if you lose, you can still go back to getting 300k per fight?

we are focusing a lot of Boots weaknesses because he is the guy. what about the other guys weaknesses. Madrimov movement gave Vergil a lot of problems just like he did Bud...the fool just wasnt throwing no punches...just like against Bud. Boots will be throwing punches. they can all beat him....I just wouldnt favor them to do it.
Totally disagree with this bro. Dude was Usain Bolt against Crawford with all of his movement. He moved quite a bit less with Ortiz & why his face took the brunt of that. Ortiz put some serious hands on dude in a fight that was competitive, but a clear L for Madrimov. Versus Bud, the fight was a lot closer.

Boots is being touted as elite but elite fighters at his stage don't eat clean shots as regularly as him. It's the same shyt I said about Spence for years

you know, I am not really as concerned with Boots getting hit. if he really wanted to he could stink the place up and you wouldnt be able to touch him. he has bad habit of pulling straight back with head in the air. this is how Donald Curry got starched against Mike McCallum. it takes a very skilled fighter to catch someone like that. this person cannot take a step back. he has to be going forward at all times but have the speed and athleticism and timing to be able to catch him. the possibility is there for the top 154 guys but its also there for a ww like Norman.

Boots just seem soooooo much faster than the folks I've seen him in there with.Norman has heavy hands but I haven't seen enough of him to know if he has levels to his athleticism.

That said Id actually want to see Boots and Ryan Garcia fight. Ryan is trash as fukk skill wise but thats what makes him dangerous, not being text book + blazing fast speed and I assume he comes in stronger at 147.

TBH when I look at the Boots roadmap, I would say if he can't get Barrios or Norman next give us Boots vs Teo as Co-Main on the Ryan vs Devin card in October and winners fight. This will give Boots more of the casual cross over and then Summer 2026 move to 154.

agree...the one thing i cant stand is when ppl think ortiz dogwalked madrimov..madrimov had ortiz trademarked within the first couple of rounds..ortiz's aggression and body work paid off but there wasn't anything easy about that win

Yeah not at first but eventually he got to/had his way with Madz and beat dude up, Madz power didn't bother him at all compared to Bohachuk where Virgil had to switch to a different gear and box more

How good is your left hand..if you can't punch sharp (with snap) with your left hand being in the southpaw position than its too early for you to convert and you should just stick to conventional until you increase your left hand strength thru jabs and hooks practice.

Can you throw a football with your left? Can you play bball and crossover to your left and drive and layup left?
Can you eat, write, brush your teeth with your left hand?

if you can't do any of the above on some regular shyt, then your left prolly not developed enough to be the power back hand it needs to be. You don't wanna be one of those right hook dominant southpaws that can't punch with their left.

I say this as someone who switch hits and changes from lefty to righty all the time and can do all the above shyt with no problem.
I got a great crisp fast snap with my left...but I still like orthodox...I can throw fast combinations though.

Sources: 'Bam' Rodriguez, Phumelele Cafu negotiating unification bout
If finalized, WBC/WBO showdown eyed for July 19 in Dallas
Dan Rafael
Apr 17

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is working to get a deal done for WBC junior bantamweight titlist Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez and WBO counterpart Phumelele Cafu to meet to unify their belts in the main event of a DAZN card eyed for July 19 in Dallas, sources with knowledge of the discussions told Fight Freaks Unite on Wednesday.

Robert Garcia, who trains and manages Rodriguez, had a fighter on the Matchroom Boxing card headlined by the Jaron “Boots” Ennis-Eimantas Stanionis welterweight unification fight on Saturday night in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and while on hand Hearn briefed him on the discussions for the Cafu fight, one of the sources said.

After Rodriguez (21-0, 14 KOs), 25, a southpaw from San Antonio, unified flyweight world titles in December 2023 with a ninth-round knockout in a dominant performance against Sunny Edwards, he returned to junior bantamweight where he won his first world title in 2022. He eventually vacated to drop down in weight.

Rodriguez, one of boxing’s pound-for-pound best, didn’t miss a beat in his return to the 115-pound division. He had a big 2024 that made him a fighter of the year candidate.

Rodriguez demolished surefire Hall of Famer Juan Francisco Estrada in the seventh round in June to win the lineal title and reclaim the WBC belt he had vacated and then mowed down interim titlist and mandatory challenger Pedro Guevara via highlight-reel third-round knockout in November.

After the Guevara fight, Hearn and Rodriguez both said a unification fight next was a goal.

“Right now we need to see (Rodriguez) unify the division,” Hearn said. “He unified at flyweight. We want to see him unify at (junior bantamweight).”

Regarding a unification bout, Rodriguez said, “I’m ready right now.”

To get one, however, it means Cafu or bust.

WBA titlist Fernando Martinez is not available as he is scheduled to defend against former titlist Kazuto Ioka in a rematch on May 11 in Tokyo.

The IBF title is vacant and will be contested by Mexican countrymen Willibaldo Garcia and Rene Calixto in a rematch, probably on May 23 in Mexico. They fought to a split draw for the vacant belt in December.

Cafu had been linked to a possible title defense against four-division champion and former pound-for-pound king Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez, but when those talks broke off, Colin Nathan, who trains and manages Cafu, announced last month that Cafu would make his first title defense in the coming months at home in South Africa.

However, a unification fight with Rodriguez would undoubtedly be worth far more money than any fight Cafu could have in South Africa.

Cafu (11-0-3, 8 KOs), 26, a southpaw, won the WBO title by upset split decision over Kosei Tanaka on the road in Japan in October. He name checked Rodriguez last month when Nathan said the first defense was being planned for South Africa.

“My goal is to be undisputed, and I want to fight the big names in the division, like ‘Bam’ and Martinez,” Cafu said.
