He put the ref in a difficult position. It was a very unorthadox reaction and it made him look more hurt than he actually was.

I cant put it on da ref

Still...

You always give a champion a chance to recover. On top of it, it was literally the end of the round
If you want to go by that logic, technically you can stop every fight when a Boxer goes down

It’s a good point and in big fights refs really need to take into account the occasion. Eg Tsyzu two weeks ago for example, that fight could and probably should have been stopped much earlier.

That being said Zab fell over moving forward after getting up, I don’t know if there’s many, if any refs that are going to allow that fight to go on after that. He looked terrible, maybe the most iconic stumble in boxing history.

Nah, I've seen too many fights where the fighter looked completely OUT of it, eyes rolling back, etc. And the ref allowed them to get themselves composed after a knockdown, and that same fighter went on the knock the other guy out or win by decision. Nigel Benn being completely out against McClennan, Larry Holmes looking completely out vs Earnie Shavers, Chico Corrales vs Castillo, etc

To me the logic is straightforward. It was the end of the 2nd round. See if Zab is capable enough to weather the storm and continue fighting. If he isn't, stop it in the 3rd round. Simple :yeshrug:

These are all valid points, but it's all with the advantage of hindsight.

In the moment Judah got popped on the jaw, gets up and with a cocked arm points and tries to mumble something to the ref, stumbles forward under his own weight and collapses like a drunkard.

They don't let you keep going usually when that happens.
