Malignaggi: I’ll fight Adrien Broner for the right price
March 4th, 2013
By Scott Gilfoid:

WBA World welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) was recently offered a fight against Adrien Broner by Golden Boy Promotions, and Malignaggi says he’s definitely interested in that bout if he gets a big payday out of it. Malignaggi missed out on a nice payday bout against Ricky Hatton after Hatton was stopped in his brief comeback by Vyacheslav Senchenko.

Malignaggi said to RingTV “We’ll get it on for the right price and under the right circumstances, being that it would be for the welterweight world title. I would fight him, absolutely.”

Malignaggi has a fight scheduled on June 22nd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, while Broner is scheduled a week earlier on June 15th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer doesn’t seem to want to move either fighter from those dates, so it’s likely that we won’t be seeing Broner vs. Malignaggi in June even if Malignaggi says yes to the fight. A match between them would have to take place in late 2013, if at all.

Malignaggi has a World Boxing Association ordered title defense coming up against his mandatory challenger Diego Chaves, and he needs to get the fight out of the way unless Golden Boy wants to ask the WBA for permission to bypass Chaves to let Malignaggi fight Broner.

Broner would be nightmare for Malignaggi. If the painfully slow Pablo Cesar Cano was able to drop Malignaggi, then it’s safe to assume that Broner drops Malignaggi all night long and leaves him a bloody, and puffed mess if he says yes to that fight.

Malignaggi might as well take that fight because he’s not going to hold onto his WBA title for too much longer anyway because someone is going to beat him. He might as well take on Broner and get the biggest payday he can in losing the fight.

Broner move up 2 weight classes AND take the Welterweight title from Paulie?:blessed:

ricky burns doesn't want to fight anybody...for crying out loud that fight with vasquez fell through although i hear its "postponed"

gamboa isn't ready for broner by no means...he needs at least 2 tuneups...he got dropped by a journeyman in his last fight..if he fights broner this year broner stops him no question

I'll take you. If Cloud can keep his hands moving he will take B-Hop. As with all of B-Hop fights though, it will be close and controversial (by B-Hop's account)

Bruh, no way he goes from fighting his very first 154 fighter in April to fighting the middleweight champion of the world...it's Angulo, Cotto or James Kirkland

Lol pretty much....Cotto said he didnt wanna return til Nov N coming off two straight losses I doubt he goes right into a canelo fight in Sept

That leaves Angulo :rudy:

I wouldn't mind that fight since it would be right after beating Trout but not for PPV
