IBF: Indongo Must Face Lipinets Next, No Crawford Unification - Boxing News

IBF: Indongo Must Face Lipinets Next, No Crawford Unification

By VadimPushkin

The International Boxing Federation has made it clear that IBF/IBO/WBA junior welterweight champion Julius Indongo of Namibia is under order to make a mandatory defense against Russian contender Sergey Lipinets.

Last December in Russia, Indongo sensationally knocked out undefeated Eduard Troyanovskiy in the first minute of the first round to capture the IBF, IBO world titles.

Then on April 15th in Glasgow, Indongo dominated Ricky Burns over twelve rounds to capture the WBA title.

The biggest monetary fight for Indongo would be a unification with WBO, WBC champion Terence Crawford - should he defeat Olympic gold medal winner Felix Diaz on May 20th in New York City.

Indongo holds a record of 22 victories, no defeats and 11 knockouts, and Lipinets is also undefeated with 12 wins, and 10 by knockout.

Burns' promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, has an option on Indongo's next fight and wanted to match him against a Matchroom promoted fighter like Ohara Davies or even Anthony Crolla.

But the IBF does not allow step aside deals and a unification with Crawford or a voluntary defense will not be sanctioned - until Indongo satisfies the mandatory defense order.

Indongo will have to face Lipinets or vacate his IBF world title. If he does vacate, then Lipinets will fight for the vacant IBF title against the highest ranked available contender who accepts the opportunity.

"Indongo is obligated to hold his next fight against Lipinets. Both parties were notified to start negotiations, and then everything will depend on the promotional process, which make take 3 to 4.5 months. Also, we do not exclude the possibility of a purse bid. Indongo will not be able to hold a unification bout, he has a mandatory and was ordered to carry out a mandatory defense. As for Crawford, he has a fight coming up very soon fight," according to a statement from the IBF to Basil Konov.

well, fukk you too IBF

at this point Indongo should just go ahead and fight Crawford if he wants to and not giving a fukk about the IBF's whining.
How they can be so short sighted that they have the nerve to implicate their fukking mandatory which could wait a few months more is more important than a 4 belts unification.

Lipinets is ot bad but Idongo gonna light him up. If you thought Burns seemed short compared to Indongo let's take a look at Lipinets' parameters

idk I would even understand if he would want a lighter matchup after traveling twice and Lipnets is lighter than Crawford so I don't implicate that he has to take on Crawford asap but the IBF is a scumbag for blocking even the possibility of a 4 belts unification.
So I'm saying if he just decides to fight Crawford he will still have that WBA belt, and a Crawford fight means a lot more money to him than Lipinets.

That's what I was think tbh because there seems to be more money in that fight especially considering that it is a unification fight. IBF on some shyt for this one. :hubie:

Francisco Vargas' Trainer Wants Him To Rest Until 2018

By Miguel Rivera

Thinking ahead, trainer Guillermo Becerril does not want former world champion Francisco 'Bandido' Vargas to enter the ring for the remainder of 2017.

He wants the fighter to stay on the shelf, take a much needed rest and properly heal his wounds - and then return with renewed vigor in 2018.

Vargas lost his WBC super featherweight title this past January, when he was stopped by big puncher Miguel Berchelt. It was a bloody fight, where Vargas took a a lot of punishment and suffered very severe cuts.

Besides the battle with Berchelt, Vargas had back to back wars with Orlando Salido and Takashi Miura - where he also took a lot of punishment and suffered severe cuts in two "Fight of The Year" showdowns.

"From my point of view, I think he should rest for the entire year, take a break, forget about boxing for a good time, rest, do anything other than boxing and starting next year take a look at what's out there for him in 2018," said Becerril to ESPN Deportes.

"(Vargas) has had tough fights, he was already saturated with a lot of action. Those divisions, lightweight, super featherweight, featherweight, are the tightest, there are a lot of tough fights, so I'd like him to come back well and analyze what's out there for him."

In the analysis after the fight, Becerril did not detract from what Berchelt did in the ring, because they already knew that he was a hard fighter, but he did say that there were a lot of things that weren't done on their end that hurt them in the contest.

"We give Berchelt credit. Berchelt got a good win, but we stopped doing a lot of things ourselves, a thousand things, and it was reflected in the fight. Vargas did not fight like he has in other times. He was not the 'Bandito' that we've seen in the past, so we analyzed things very well. We'll have to sit down and talk and see what is coming up, but first he needs to relax and rest," said the coach.

excellent idea..let the skin and his nervous system recover a bit..although i think it might be all for nothing :manny:

Dillian Whyte to face Mariusz Wach on June 3 at The O2

Dillian Whyte returns to action in a crunch Heavyweight clash with Mariusz Wach at The O2 in London on June 3, live on Sky Sports.

Whyte is back in the saddle after his epic battle with Dereck Chisora in December in Manchester, with the London pair going toe-to-toe over 12 exhilarating rounds that Whyte claimed via split decision.

‘The Bodysnatcher’ now steps up his pursuit of World honours in the capital against Wach, the Pole that took Wladimir Klitschko the distance for four World titles in 2012 and is ranked at number seven in the WBC and 14 in the IBF – and the 29 year old is planning to put in a performance that makes puts the World champions on red alert.

“I’m super excited to be headlining at The O2,” said Whyte. “I’ve being working hard to be a standalone headline fighter and to headline against someone of the stature of Mariusz Wach is great.

“He’s a good fighter. Tall and rangy and he throws a lot of body punches and uppercuts. He’s Polish so of course he’s going to be tough and bring that warrior spirit."

There’s a stacked card in support of Whyte’s clash with Wach, led by British Light-Heavyweight champion Frank Buglioni defending his title for the first time against Ricky Summers. Buglioni was set to defend his belt against the unbeaten Tipton man in Greenwich in March on the undercard of Tony Bellew’s epic win over David Haye, but injury forced him to postpone. Buglioni puts the belt on the line for the first time since ripping it from Hosea Burton in a dramatic 12th round stoppage win in Manchester in December.

A host of young London talents are set to appear on the bill in the form of Reece Bellotti, Ted Cheeseman, Isaac Chamberlain, Rio Olympian Lawrence Okolie, Craig Richards, Jake Ball and Danny Dignum.

We had an issue involving him throwing rocks then hiding his hands. I neither involve myself nor have dialogue (internet or otherwise) with cacs and c00ns.

fukk him.
Well damn, I know I ain't been posting much lately, but I must really be out the loop.

That dude cool as fukk. but...

Ring beef never sleeps tho so :manny:
I honestly don't even know breh. I got respect for everyone here in the ring and never tried to start beef with anyone. Got respect for everyone in life outside of the ring as well. We all have our struggles and differences, learned a long time ago that you have to try to understand someone else's situation to see where they are coming from. You can't peg your views onto them.

I don't even know what my beef with @SuikodenII was about. I know I was saying I felt Ward was a little too arrogant in personality for me to stan him (and IMO thought that is what may have been the cause), but I never once have disrespected his skill set, shyt on him as a boxer, or as being bad dude...just don't connect with his personality. Ward seems like a good dude who has struggled through a lot, I just dont care to stan for him as a fighter.

Yeah @SuikodenII came at me, but I tried my best to ignore it. I didn't know what it was about and for all I do or don't do around here, I ain't trying to start beefs with no one. I just tried to play it off in a "sorry you feel that way and keep it moving" (that may have accidentally escalated things, but I tend to be a non-confrontational person outside of the Internet and am not trying to be a fake tough guy here). If he wants to get at me and have me explain something to rectify a miscommunication or something he thought I was doing that irritated him (or just my views on something in general), I am always willing to do that. But I feel like I can't initiate that aspect because I honestly don't know what it is all about. Not trying to hide, just not on the same page of what our "beef" is supposed to be about. :yeshrug:
