Lee isn't a ducker :salute::
Andy Lee Wants Tough Fight, Gennady Golovkin Showdown - Boxing News

Former world champion Andy Lee (34-3-1, 24KOs) is looking to get back in the mix in a big way.

Lee has been inactive since last December, when he lost a twelve round decision, and his WBO middleweight championship, to Billy Joe Saunders.

According to Lee, he was going to fight on the undercard to Gennady Golovkin vs. Daniel Jacobs - which was targeted for December 10 in New York City, but that fight has been pushed back to next March at the earliest.

Lee would like to get in there would tough Argentinian Jorge Sebastian Heiland [28-4-2, 15KOs), who is currently ranked in the number position under the WBC.

A victory could propel Lee to a mandatory fight with Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs), who holds the WBC, WBA, IBO, IBF middleweight belts.

Heiland is best known for his knockout victory over Matthew Macklin. The rugged fighter from Argentina has also been hunting for a big fight.

At one point Lee had a deal wrapped up to face Golovkin in a big HBO televised showdown in 2014, but the bout fell through after GGG's father passed away.

According to Irish Boxing, Lee told Newstalk 106FM’s Off The Ball - “Originally it was supposed to be a prelim bout against an opponent of our choosing which would be like a comeback, somebody with a good record, maybe rated in the Top 20 – but the way things have developed, there’s a good chance I could fight Jorge Sebastian Heiland who is the WBC #1 contender. People might know him as he beat Matthew Macklin here in the 3Arena a couple of years ago now.”

“That’s a fight I’d like and a fight which would make sense for me. It would lead to a possible title fight with Golovkin so that’s what I’m hoping is in the works.”

That would have been a pretty dope card: Jacobs-GGG and Heiland-Lee...with the built in story line of the winners potentially fighting. :obama:

Lee trying to do what Lara should be doing.

like i said...it all depends on the matchmaking breh..if we get swift-ghost title fight type of fights then nothing will have changed...but we will see

Ghost-Swift type of matchups are pretty much all HBO/GB/TR have been giving us since PBC started as well....hopefully they step THEIR game up in 2017 as well bc they were the worst.

Boxing is built off those type of fights since the beginning of time

But PBC is posed to do away with them :comeon:

85% of HBO fights is Aside Champ/ Young Champ vs former champ with a name

The other 15% is on PPV :scust:

RJJ, Bernard Hopkins, & James Toney fought tons of "Ghost" type opponents in the 90s....but everyone must've forgot:sas2:

If only the fighters of today could fight a blown up 5 L lightweight at 168 (Vinny Paz)

Or the ever dangerous Steve Lionheart Frank...perhaps a title defense against the killer known as Willie Bo James

Lee trying to do what Lara should be doing.
I agree. I am not one who cares much for the Lara-GGG talks, mostly because I see Lara as a 154 pounder who would likely move up and then back down after a GGG fight. Everyone at 154 has unfinished business, so I am more interested in seeing 154 sort itself out, then see guys challenge out of division.

But if you are Lara he should be forcing a GGG fight if he wants it. He should be fighting more often, looking at opponents that create a GGG narrative, putting on good performances, and calling out GGG after every fight. Lara's problem is he just disappears and is forgotten by fans and media for long periods of time. Media members usually hype fights based on fighters who are active and entertaining. Right now, Lara is neither.

Nothing against Lara, he is a hell of a fighter, but if you want to make a fight you aren't getting them any more by just saying a guys name every now and then.
