Sebastian Fundora Inks Promotional Pact With Sampson Boxing

Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing proudly announces the signing of undefeated super welterweight prospect Sebastian 'The Towering Inferno' Fundora to a promotional contract.

The 6' 7", 20-year-old southpaw Fundora, from Coachella, California, is the tallest fighter in his division in the world. Lewkowicz was, at first, reluctant to sign a virtually unknown commodity in Fundora, whose tall statue and low weight make him look deceptively emaciated.

So, always having been a great eye for talent, Lewkowicz put the young fighter in some tough match-ups and was very impressed by the results.

In September of last year, Fundora took on then undefeated Victor Toney and dominated him over six rounds. Looking to evaluate him further, Lewkowicz then put Fundora in a couple tough tests in South America and he won both by near shutout.

"I thought he would be too frail against better competition," said Lewkowicz, "but he barely lost a round in his last four fights. Sebastian is nearly impossible to fight at this weight, with his reach and southpaw stance. And he took enough shots for me to see that he also has a world-class chin. He is going to be a major factor in the division very soon and I'm happy to have signed him to my stable."

"I am fortunate to have met and signed with a great boxing promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, who has exciting plans for my future and who will guide me to conquer the dream of becoming world champion," said Sebastian Fundora. "I have trained all my life to become a world champion, step by step and day by day. I am looking forward to seeing what the future awaits."

Fundora has worked as a sparring partner for the world's youngest super middleweight world champion in history, David Benavidez... also a Sampson Boxing fighter. It was members of Benavidez' camp who initially directed Lewkowicz to the fighter.

"I now have boxing's youngest super middleweight champion in history and the tallest junior middleweight in history," said a proud Lewkowicz of his promotional stable.

Thurman Shreds Danny Garcia For Saying He Won Their Fight

By Radio Rahim

WBC, WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman (28-0, 22 KOs) is a bit annoyed with some of the recent comments that are being made by former two division world champion Danny Garcia (31-1, 19 KOs).

Last March, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Garcia lost a twelve round split decision to Keith Thurman in their anticipated unification bout.

Neither boxer has been inaction since that fight, but both have contest coming up in the next few months.

Garcia will return next month, when he faces former world champion Brandon 'Bam Bam' Rios (34-3-1, 25 KOs). The Showtime televised fight is scheduled for February 17th, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Thurman has a Showtime televised date of May 19th, at Barclays, against an opponent to be determined.

In some of his recent interviews, Garcia has disagreed with the scorecards that gave him his first career defeat.

Garcia feels strongly that he did more than enough to defeat Thurman and vows to get revenge when the step in the ring again.

"It's just a loss on paper. I feel like I won the fight, it is what it is," Garcia said. "It does bother me because I know I'm the better fighter, but I have to put it in the past. I don't let it bother me; you have to have thick skin and come back stronger. "

The fight with Rios is a WBC final eliminator. With a victory, Garcia will be in line for a mandatory rematch with Thurman - who already owes a mandatory defense against Shawn Porter.

Once Porter gets his shot at Thurman - the winner will be mandated to face the winner of Garcia-Rios.

Thurman had a lot to say after reading some of the recent statements from Garcia.

"I can care less what a lot of other people say, but one of my favorite comments was from Danny Garcia. So Danny Garcia was like 'Thurman, he didn't throw any punches.' Well first off, I'm gonna have to school you in the ring and I'm gonna have to school you outside of the ring," Thurman said to BoxingScene.com.

"When I throw punches, it's like a mathematical equation. You want to say how many punches I threw, but check how many punches you threw homie - because I always outpunched you. Even the commentators were saying, 'Thurman is not that active, but he's currently thrown more than Danny Garcia.' What was that the tenth or eleventh round? Recap it my boy.

"If you really want to beat me - up the punch count. But guess what? When you up the punch count I'll up the punch count, because I'm going to stay above you. Danny Garcia is not hard to outwork. Shawn Porter is a harder fighter to outwork, Danny Garcia is not hard to outwork. Even without working he got outworked. So I don't got to do nothing if you not motherf***ing doing nothing."
