Rigo needs Loma more than Loma needs Rigo and we all know it...
However, REGARDLESS of the A/B side situation of the business side of it, all boxing fans want to see this fight because it's a once in a lifetime situation we may never get again.
2 undefeated, p4p talented, 4 gold medals (2 each) having fighters... unbelievable match-up
Rigo would be up against it though, moving up 2 weight classes, 36, hasn't been in against good competition in awhile... but it's a risk he'll have to take to reclaim that top p4p spot once again. I won't front like Magdaleno hasn't been calling this man out, by name, isn't a champion, and wouldn't be a dope match-up for Rigo, ... but it's still a 2nd option compared to Loma.
As for Loma, he and his people know that his "spot" doesn't need Rigo at the moment to solidify it. Therefore, from a risk-VS-reward standpoint, they're probably looking at the winner of either of the 7/15 bouts.
HOWEVER, a quick turn-around for August doesn't sound realistic, and who else could he face that would be more beneficial than Rigo in August? Tank got Salido, Uchiyama is coming off 2 back to back loses,
Jhonny Gonzalez puts the fear of GAWD in every opponent... oh, wait...
...There's a certain 126 champion that's desperate for that Loma run-back, Gary Russell Jr.
With all that said, here's how I see things from both perspectives...
1st Option for Loma: Winner of 1 of the 7/15 bouts
2nd Option for Loma: 126 champ Gary Russell Jr.
3rd Option for Loma: 122 champ Guillermo Rigondeaux
1st Option for Rigo: 130 champ Vasyl Lomachenko
2nd Option for Rigo: 122 champ Jessie Magdaleno
3rd Option for Rigo: Variable....
