I dont think anyone has questioned that Broner has power and Mikey has flaws, just like any fighter. I think an athletic fighter who moves around the ring could give Mikey problems, a fighter with fast hands who lets them go could give him some problems as well.

I am high on Mikey's all around skillset and composure. Plus he is professional and comes prepared every time.

You know I have said Broner is uber talented, I just can't rock with the fact he sabotages himself so much.

That and Mikey is my tier 2 squad. :obama:

yeah just what I wanted to say :ehh:

Mikey is excellent but has flaws too, however Broner isn't he style of fighter who will really bring them out.
I think Crawford would be a nightmare matchup for him but not Broner

I don't know if I would have him top 5, I would have to think about that...but def right there on pure skills.

No doubt Broner would deserve props if he wins, especially because I dont think the fight is going to play out as a bigger guy vs. smaller guy, despite Mikey moving up.

Agree 100%. I think Mikey's weaknesses don't directly align to Broner's strengths. Crawford on the other hand would be the favorite vs. Mikey in my mind.

Gotta disagree. I think it would put him in line to be #2, but I still have Crawford at the 1 spot. I think Crawford would beat Broner easier than Mikey and I wouldn't be surprised if it was by Maidana margins. I am a believer in Crawford...147 is going to be tougher for him, but at 140 I don't think anyone right now will beat him (including Broner and Garcia).

Even as Manny Pacquiao prepares for Jeff Horn of Australia, boxing promoter Bob Arum has repeatedly been harping about a possible clash between the Filipino champion and undefeated junior welterweight king Terence Crawford.


But coach Freddie Roach, who has been overseeing Pacquiao’s training together with conditioning coach Justine Fortune, said he would rather have his prized pupil fight either Danny Garcia or Mikey Garcia.

“Who’s Terence Crawford?” said Roach while waiting for Pacquiao to finish his session with the heavy bag.

“Popularity-wise, I think Mikey Garcia is the best option, because it will pit Mexican versus Filipino,” he added.

“But I like Danny Garcia the best.”

Mikey is a 3-division champion and current lightweight titlist. He’s the brother of boxing trainer Robert Garcia who coached former Pacquiao foes Antonio Margarito and Brandon Rios.

Danny, on the other hand, is a former 2-weight world champion who recently lost a close match against Keith Thurman.

“(Danny) came all the way to my gym and they don’t like me. But he shook my hand and said, ‘I want Manny Pacquiao,’” recalled Roach.

“I said okay, but they got to talk to Michael Koncz and Manny.”

Roach said he didn’t want the Crawford fight because, with the exception of Floyd Mayweather Jr., Pacquiao's previous bouts against African-American boxers didn’t sell well in the US.

“Filipino against Mexican sells well, but Filipjno against black? It doesn’t sell well in America,” said the coach.

“(Crawford) has audience, yes. In Nebraska, (where he comes from).”
