It's really a shame...you can't even call it a marquee division anymorewe have all these good fighters at 147 and none are fighting eachother.

Antonio Margarito-Ramon Alvarez Eyed By Zanfer For July 16
By Miguel Rivera
The return of Antonio Margarito (39-8, 27KOs) is being targeted for July 16th at Plaza de Toros in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. TV Azteca would televise the contest in Mexico and beIN Sports in the United States.
Margarito broke a four year retirement in March, when he returned to the ring to win a ten round unanimous decision over Jorge Pez Jr. in a junior middleweight contest in Mexico City.
The return of Margarito was not without a major scare. He was knocked down very hard in the sixth round and seemed to be very hurt from the punch. The moment came at the end of the round which may have been a blessing for the former welterweight world champion.

Zanfer Promotions, who promote Margarito in Mexico, are looking at Ramon Alvarez (23-4-2, 15KOs) as the potential opponent. Alvarez is the older brother of WBC middleweight world champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. The information was also confirmed to ESPN Deportes.
Alvarez was seen in the ring back in January, when he knocked out James Winchester in nine rounds of action in Rosarito, Mexico. He's built a win streak of nine fights, which includes names like Ben Tackie, Vivian Harris and Omar Chavez.
Margarito's goal is to fight in July and then obtain a license for a return bout in Las Vegas. At the moment Margarito is only licensed to fight in Texas. He had a serious eye injury, which required multiple surgeries, following his 2010 decision loss to Manny Pacquiao at 150-pounds. He will have to present some solid medical documents to confirm the eye is fully healed. Prior to his last fight, the local boxing commission in Mexico had Margarito go through a series of medical examinations before approving his fight with Paez.
Fat Joe was on ESPN's Highly Questionable, talking about his altercation with Roy Jones
