BOXINGTALK : DAILY BREAD FRIDAY EDITION:(10-24-14)

Breadman was asked about a matchup between Floyd/Norris

Comment from mailbag reader: "In an all-time pound-for-pound ranking, I'd put Floyd Mayweather over Terry Norris without blinking because he's had a cleaner and more sterling career BUT I'd bet my HOUSES that Terry beats the BRAKES off Floyd at 154. First, Floyd is really a junior welterweight in my eyes and Terry was a HUGE junior middleweight. Terry is one of those guys that if you can't hurt him, you can't beat him. Styles make fights and this is an EASY pick for me..."

Breadman response:

"I agree with you 100% and some people confuse who would win head-to-head and who had the better career. Of course, Floyd is higher on the all-time list than Norris. As you stated, he was more consistent and had the cleaner career. But in a head-to-head fight, Norris would put it on him and put it on him bad. He would have total disdain for him; he was stronger, just as quick and much more vicious in his attack. Norris is all wrong for him and those of that know just know..."

I just knew somebody would post this. :mjlol:

I agree with Bread tho but :manny:

It's just crazy how everybody acts like Hearns can be the only guy in boxing's whole existence that is a possible bad style match up for Floyd and nobody else.

Norris was a bad match up for a lot of nikkas tho. Right now at 154, I think he'd prolly wash everybody or at least be 50/50.

but enough about these mythical match ups...

it's almost time for #GGGBoys to get their career mode on. :blessed:

Mythical matchups are nothing but a waste of time

I have no problems with mythical matchups. It makes you think and alot of good discussions can come from them :manny:

you're both right... boxing isn't even mostly to watch, it's to discuss. following boxing is way more than just watching a fight each week. so if you're more utilitarian in life you'll have no patience discussing fantasy fights, if you're into philosophizing fantasy fights is half the fun of following the sport

something for everyone, thats why this thread is great

it sounds like a disgusting post fishing for daps but hey :yeshrug:

No Norris wouldn't. You nikkas need to stop it.

And bread man comes off as a dude who thinks he knows it all bit he be talking out his ass.

Just like he picked Rios to pick Bradley then his ass back tracked. Came up with all types of excuses.

You don't need people to validate your opinion. It's an opinion. It isn't fact.

I finally got around to watching the Dawson/White fight.

Gotta say, it's the best I've seen Chad look in a while. Good to know he's still got some fight in him after all. I'm not gonna sit here and say "Bad Chad" is back, but I'm interested in seeing how he does going forward

He never should've went down to 68 for SOG. I still think SOG would beat him but at least it would've been more competitive

Agreed. He should have done a catchweight at 175, that would have been fair. I think Ward still would have beat him, but it would have been closer. Dawson looked drained dropping down.

But he agreed to it, so there's no excuse :manny:

It's a Top 10 WOAT business decision in boxing. Up there with Winky refusing 4 mil for the Taylor rematch.

Chad did it for the pay day, but he only got around like 600k for the fight. shyt wasn't even worth it in the end. :snoop:

Drop down to a weight you haven't fought at in 6-7 years to fight an undefeated gold medalist.

Hell, they wanted Walters to face a nikka with 2 gold medals for less than that. :camby:
