Artur Beterbiev will headline the first PBC card on ESPN of 2016

Light heavyweight contender Artur Beterbiev will headline the first Premier Boxing Champions card on ESPN of 2016 on June 4 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, promoter Yvon Michel told RingTV.com on Thursday. Rising junior middleweight Erickson Lubin (14-0, 10 KOs) is set for the televised co-feature.

Russia’s Beterbiev, a former Olympian, has not fought since June of last year because of a shoulder injury. He was supposed to participate in a world title elimination fight last November on Showtime before he was sidelined. Igor Mikhalkin was negotiating with Michel to face Beterviev. The winner would have been a mandatory challenger for light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev, whom Beterbiev beat in the amateurs.

Henry Rivalta, who manages Lubin with Garry Jonas, said that Lubin is excited to finally fight in Montreal. Lubin’s parents are Haitian and Jonas is from Montreal, so there are ties to the city, Rivalta said. “We’ve always wanted Erickson to fight in Canada,” Rivalta said in a phone interview. “The kid is really excited to open the first ESPN show of 2016. He’s looking to eventually be a main event on a network at some point and this is a good way to show what he can do.”

PBC on ESPN has had trouble getting off the ground in 2016. It was initially supposed to take place in January. Then it got pushed back to April 2. A couple more shows were supposed to occur on May 7 and May 20 before June 4 was finally settled on.

The opponents for both Beterbiev and Lubin have not been revealed yet.

If your ring persona doesn't=your real life persona, you're a straight up buster. No ifs, ands or buts*

I'm assuming that was Adonis speaking on Ward having a 50/50 shot after 2 or 3 more tuneups? Regardless of his opinion, Stevenson is at a point in his career if you still want to call it such, where it's hard to take him seriously on anything he says boxing related.
