Damn. I can't believe I've been so out of the loop on here. I got info after the Ward fight and I've been too busy to share. But here it is...
I was told there's no plans for another tuneup before the Kovalev fight. Ward was supposed to have 2 tuneups at 175, but he lost his shot at that when he pulled out of the Canelo/Cotto PPV with his knee "injury". Barrera would've been his 2nd fight at 175.
HBO wouldn't even consider another tuneup unless Ward took WAY less than $1.5 mil, and that's not likely to happen.
So Ward won't have another shot to tighten things up before then, unless he causes a fuss, but no one will pay him what he wants for it.
The Kovalev fight is scheduled for November 19th in Vegas at the T Mobile Arena, which seems like a given, but they were considering New York.
I didn't even ask. I was just caught up in what would happen if Ward held out for another tuneup. I thought they'd accommodate him. I even asked what would happen if he says no to Kovalev without a tuneup. That's how I found out they'd do it if he took way less than he's used to getting. I guess he's used up all his good will with HBO.i assume kovalev still has a tuneup intact before that nov date right?
