When the WBC announced a series of mandatory fights in January to follow the Danny Garcia-Robert Guerrero vacant title bout, which Garcia won by decision on Jan. 23, one of the fights was an eliminator between former titleholder Andre Berto (30-4, 23 KOs) and former junior welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson (34-3-1, 17 KOs). However, the WBC told ESPN.com on Tuesday that Berto, idle since being losing a one-sided decision to Floyd Mayweather in his retirement bout in September, has declined to participate, so it will move on and order Peterson to fight somebody else.

Notes: PBC on ESPN due to resume season in June
