Behind You
Dan Rafael chat wrap 1/15:

- Thurman vs. Porter will be announced later today or during Saturday's broadcast.
- The undercard could be: Pedraza-Stephen Smith and Edwin Rodriguez-Thomas Williams.
- The Mohegan Sun is a great resort and hopes the fight ends up there. Capacity could go up to 10k.
- When Tarver beat RJJ, RJJ was not in his prime. Had RJJ been in his prime, he would have beaten Tarver much easier than their first fight.
- Wilder by KO, Glazkov-Martin is a coin flip, but picking Glazkov by decision.
- Aaron Martinez has never been given anything, was thrown right in, and worked a day job. He was hosed vs. Guerrero and glad to see the same didn't happen vs. Alexander.
- Loeffler says he is still trying to make a deal for GGG-Saunders. He will believe it when he sees it.
- GGG has until Jan. 19th to negotiate with BJS, then the IBF will order Tureano Johnson as his mandatory.
- ODH knows GGG is worth more than 10%. It is all games.
- Lara is trolling GGG trying to get a fight. No one cares about that fight and Lara is collecting financial handouts from Haymon, while GGG is actually selling out arenas.
- No word on Lomachenko. TR is trying to figure what is next out.
- Ibeabuchi will probably try to fight again. Definitely will not be allowed to fight in Nevada and likely not in the US (deportation).
- Loves a Vargas vs. Salido fight if it can be made.
- There are fighters at PBC who are unhappy with the way things are going.
- PBC finances are basic math and to him they never added up. Thinks that PBC's lack of shows to start the year is writing on the wall that they are not nearly as financially strong. The countdown is on until they run out of money.
- If PBC folded his fighters are still contractually tied with him being their adviser or contract manager.
- Likes the idea of there being a financial advantage to winning a fight, but any attempts that have been made to reward the winner more than the loser has never gone anywhere.
- Of course Garcia's Dad likes the ideas of fighting easy fights for lots of money. Garcia has been matched with bad opponents for good money, but he has also beaten a lot of good fighters. You cannot totally bash Garcia. Yes he has had bad moments, but he also has really good names on his resume. Guerrero isn't a great fight, but Guerrero is a legit pro.
- Garcia vs. Guerrero doesn't do much for him and is disappointing as the "big" fight selected for Fox's debut. This fight isn't even in the top 20 fights that PBC could make.
- Garcia vs. Guerrero is at the Staples Center...but the amount of fans showing up wouldn't even fill the StubHub.
- Garcia and Guerrero were never marketed to the hispanic community. It is crazy to have this fight at the Staples Center. They are going to have to give away a lot of tickets to make the arena look decently full. On the other hand, Mares-Santa Cruz was real fans who bought tickets to root for their fighters.
- Hopes that FNF comes back.
- Was a huge Mancini fan. He is a good guy and fun to hang out with.
- Doesn't know the odds of Berto vs. Ortiz 2 happening. Would love to see it.
- If you think GGG is scared to fight anyone at MW or criticize his resume you are an idiot who doesn't understand the business side of boxing. You can't force people to fight you.
- The combo of Pascal and Roach shouldn't hurt Pascal, but it won't do much vs. Kovalev.
- This fight is actually a really good fight for Wilder in comparison to his previous opponents.
- Wilder losing tomorrow isn't a huge upset. It would be a mild upset. Spilzka can bang and Wilder's chin is shaky.
- If Wilder wins, guesses we will see Wilder-Povetkin in the summer.
- Best cut men? Russ Amber, Miguel Diaz, Danny Milano, and Rafael Garcia.
- His favorite boxing writer? Michael Katz of the NY Times and NY Daily News.
- Doug Fischer is 100% correct in that fighters today do not take criticism as well as fighters from the past. Fighters are coddled by unprofessional blogs/websites that want fighter access/fight access.
- Mikhaylenko is trying to remain on the Jan. 30th card. They need to find an opponent that everyone can agree on.
- Fights that were not made, but wishes they had: Lewis-Bowe, Tyson-Holyfield (1991), Mayweather-Pacquiao (2009), SRL-Pryor, SRL-McCallum, DLH-Tszyu, Lennox-Wlad, Foreman-Holmes, Foreman-Tyson, Marquez-Morales, RJJ-BHop 2 (2001), and Mayweather-Williams.
- Annoys him that JMM vs. Morales was never made.
- Broner's response to his comments about needing to grow up proved that he does need to grow up and that Dan will need to wish for Broner to grow up again next year.
- Considers Abraham the favorite vs. Ramirez.
- Chance that Canelo's May 7th fight could open the new Vegas arena.
- Luis Ortiz may headline a fight on HBO on March 5 or 12, with Ali-Vargas as the undercard.
- Does not think Jacobs needs to give Mora a rematch.
- Doubts JMM vs. Cotto happens. A weird fight, but he would be interested.
- Postol vs. Broner? Postol jabs his way to victory.
- Frampton vs. Quigg is a 50/50 fight.
- Top 5 all time CW (off top of the head): Holyfield, Jirov, Huck, Haye, and JC Gomez. Johnny Nelson maybe 6th.
- Holyfield vs. Qawi 1 is the greatest CW fight of all time and Toney-Jirov is second.
- Showtime will be having old fight replays all year as they are celebrating 30 years of boxing. Showed Holyfield-Dokes last night.
- Why is the WBC only including PBC fighters in their tournament? The magic of Al Haymon.
- Fact or fiction, boxing belts are worthless? Mostly fiction. His problem is the number of titles, but titles can be important when looked at in the proper perspective. Fury is the HW champion...Wilder is a titleholder.
- Margarito's fight likely will be televised on UniMas or beIN.
- Lemieux's chances vs. Canelo? Only slightly better than he had vs. GGG.
The emotional :cape: for Golovkin coupled with the barely concealed hatred of PBC/Haymon coming from Dan is hilarious.

basics...promotion is dead in the water only carried by the fathers who only recently started talking shyt
I don't get the business decision to hold it at the Staples Center like Guerrero is the bigger draw. They needed to have it at the Barclays so all the Ricans could come out in support of Swift and the wouldn't have to paper the crowd.

maybe its their way of trying to expand PBC outside of their hometowns

(somehow not knowing that fury is one of the hated guys in boxing today)
and somehow, this is less inflammatory than what a typical Ring poster would say these days :patrice:
bless Broner though, if it helps him sleep at night then why not

He's talking to twitter......and if you aint know, Broner is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more hated on than any Boxer walking today outside of Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd, Broner, Ward, Wilder, and Lara are the 5 most hated on Boxers on twitter. EASILY.

Fury gets nowhere near the amount of hate as those 5 on their pages.

From the fans and the media......AB gets way more hatred than Tyson Fury and it's not even close.
