Dan Rafael chat wrap 12/30:

- Is JMM retired? Not officially.
- In a week or two GB and Canelo's team will begin planning his May fight.
- Canelo and GGG next opponents? Not a lot of good options for Canelo, especially for PPV. GGG will likely be Tureano Johnson or Saunders.
- Rosado being a Canelo opponent is only rumors. It would be a horrible PPV. Only worthy of regular HBO.
- Brook vs. Khan could happen this summer in the UK. Brook will take his mandatory first.
- Joshua appears to be the real deal, but his chin needs to hold up.
- Heard rumors of an Algieri vs. Spence fight. That is not a good fight for Algieri.
- Imagines Wilder and Povetkin fight this summer.
- Predicts that Pacquiao vs. Bradley 3 will bomb on PPV (500k buys if they are lucky). Is respectful, but told Arum he thinks it is a bad fight.
- Arum said Pacquiao picked Bradley after getting all the relevant info about making the fights. Crawford and Khan were the other two candidates.
- Is Bradley vs. Pacquiao the king of pointless trilogies? Probably Wright-McKart.
- Arum's team is dealing with the MGM to make the fight there.
- Nobody believes this will be Pacquiao's last fight.
- British boxing fans complain more than US ones (in regards to why US customers pay more for PPV than their British counterparts).
- Herrera is one of many opponents being mentioned to fight Crawford next.
- Arum says if Ibeabuchi can get a license he would like to put Ike on the Pacquiao-Bradley 3 undercard.
- Crawford vs. Danny Garcia would be a great matchup, but unlikely to get made.
- Doubts a Jacobs vs. GGG mandatory will be ordered anytime soon.
- Barrera is a more credible opponent for Ward than Smith or Rodriguez.
- Bika vs. Codrington is an underrated fight.
- Best atmosphere of a fight in 2015? Canelo-Kirkland, followed by Canelo-Cotto, and GGG-Lemieux. Mayweather-Pacquiao was too corporate.
- Does he believe Spence KO'd Broner during sparring? Yes.

Is this dude serious :russ:

Canelo just filled up a stadium with the corpse of Kirkland. nikkas can't even put the bias aside to admit that Canelo has a gang of options. :dead:

What happened to all of these "good fighters" at middleweight :dwillhuh: did they all dissappear or were they only "good fighters" when 97g fought them? :sas1:

To be fair, when Dan is asked and responds he says PPV vs. non PPV worthy. Canelo's team wants May's fight to PPV...he says there are not good PPV options...more like regular HBO options.
That is true IMO. Other than Canelo-GGG, no fight at 160 right now is PPV worthy.
Jacobs or Saunders would be very good Canelo opponents IMO, but Jacobs and Canelo will have promotional negotiation issues and right now GGG is negotiating with Saunders, no rumors of Canelo doing the same.
Matchup wise, since Canelo has been fighting at 155 and if he doesn't want to commit to 160, 154 is a better division. Finding a guy from there could be a better matchup.

I really hate this new era idea that a boxer needs to be focused on PPV with every fight. Big matches should get the PPV treatment and everything else should be reserved for TV/cable.

Its going to put up embarressing numbers but for some reason Arum thinks it is a legit seller. Probably the first sign that he is in the throes of early onset Alzheimer's.

I seriously doubt Manny picked Bradley over Khan if Khan was presented as an option. I bet that old fukker just put forth Bradley or Crawford as the only options.

The President is bike! I want to see Ike vs Shannon Briggs.:troll:

Yep, that's like 6 million in US dollars. I can't see him turning it down.

Then I'd laugh at all the GGG stans who were so angry that BJS beat Lee because he wouldn't fight Golovkin :mjlol:

No problems with us GGG stans IMO. We were rooting for Lee because Lee has been quoted as saying he was down to take a GGG fight. Saunders said he wasn't sure he was ready. No problem with rooting for the guy who says he wants it in my opinion.

If Saunders ends up taking the fight (more so if it is in the US) then major props to this kid Saunders. Freshly off of getting a title and whether it is for money or not, taking the hardest fight available :salute:.

On GGG's end we know GGG wanted the winner of Lee or Saunders. He wasn't afraid to offer either a contract.

Friend Canelo did 350-400k with Lara. With Lara. The anti draw.

Canelo has more options because he IS the draw. He could fight Rosado tomorrow on ppv and it will do more than 97k which according to fat dan would be a "success".

I get what you are saying, but not all PPV's are equal. GGG and Lemieux both made $2 million each, which is less than Canelo will want for himself.
But you are right, Canelo is the second biggest draw in boxing and he will do some numbers with anyone.

Personally don't have a problem with whoever Canelo picks. He consistently takes hard fights, so he deserves to choose whoever he wants. Plus if he wants GGG in the fall, an easier fight wouldn't be bad.
