Arum: Golovkin's True Tests Are at 168, Like Ramirez

Posted by: Ryan Burton on 11/5/2015 .

By Ryan Burton

Wynn Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada - BoxingScene.com caught up with Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who is promoting this Saturday's HBO matchup pitting WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley against former 135-pound champion Brandon Rios at the Thomas & Mack Center.

We asked Arum a variety of questions including his thoughts on WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs), who has been steamrolling through the middleweight division.

Arum feels that the only fighters capable of beating Triple G reside in the super middleweight division and would like to put him in against his undefeated 168 pound fighter Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez.

"I think that Golovkin can only be challenged by going up to 168. I would like to see him fight our fighter Gilberto Ramirez who is fighting in Vegas at the Cosmopolitan on the 20th of this month. If he wins that fight he will fight the winner of (Arthur) Abraham and (Martin) Murray, and if he wins that fight he has agreed already to fight Golovkin and that would be a hell of a fight," said Arum said to BoxingScene.com.

on't think=
@patscorpio Minus kayode your Nigerian brothers went the fukk in on those euros :obama:

Hopefully Olabi and Durodola don't fail their post fight drug test
Like most fighters who upset Russians in Russia tend to do :mjpls:

yeah they did work..those are 2 KO of the year candidates if i ever saw one...ola especially..chakhiev for whatever reason refuses to pace himself...he did this shyt before and did it again yesterday and paid for it...he is due to be champion...and he should have been in the 2nd fight with marco huck :francis:..duradola put himself on the CW map..entertaining shootout

kayode disappointed me...i think he could have made shyt a little hotter in the beginining when lebedev didnt look too good..kayode needs a new trainer...he fights too crude

overall CW remains a highly competitive division..the fighters there fight each other and there's no promoter fukkery

as i mentioned cuenca who utilizes movement not being able to get a past jab was :dahell: to me...that ibf 140 belt maybe out of reach for a while if dude decided not to leave home..who knows maybe we might get a rematch out of this

bivol im going to keep my eye on..hes another one of those WSB cats....he may make some waves at 175

kudos for povetkin being able to force the stoppage on wach...a bit dull but he did what he had to do..wach though has a chin....shyt in that fight with wlad, wlad literally let em have it with some flush shots at times and he didnt go down

Lomachenko Still Open To Rigondeaux, Mulls Move To 130

Posted by: Steve Kim on 11/5/2015 .

This Saturday night from the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, WBO featherweight titlist Vasyl Lomachenko defends his crown against Romula Koasicha - who like Gamalier Diaz back in May - is a heavy underdog versus the two-time Olympic gold-medalist from Ukraine.

Is there a more significant fight in 2016 for this southpaw stylist?

And is there any chance it could be the now belt-less Guillermo Rigondeaux?

"Well, Lomachenko wants to fight Rigo because he think he's a good fighter and he wants to prove how good he is," said Egis Klimas, who manages Lomachenko.

"So if Top Rank can be able to deliver it, we would like the fight. But at this time let me tell you - we're not going to chase any fighter. Whoever is going to come into our space, we're going to fight. We have no time to chase fighters."

Lomachenko has made it clear that at 126 they he yearns for unification bouts. But if those fights aren't possible due to the politics of the sport, will he perhaps entertain a move up to super featherweight?

Klimas states - "We don't know, yet. We're concentrating on the fight this weekend and he's thinking he might want to go up to 130 if nobody is available at 126. For example if Rigondeaux wants to step in, we'll fight Rigondeaux. If not, we'll fight Orlando Salido at 130."

Salido, handed Lomachenko (4-1, 2 KO's) his lone professional loss in his second pro bout as he made an attempt to win the WBO featherweight belt when it was held by the rugged Mexican, who came into that bout over the 126 pound limit. Salido, though, seems on his way to a third match-up with Rocky Martinez in the early part of 2016.

@mr. smoke weed :sas1:

Arum likes Canelo vs Rios..."if Rios wins"?:mjpls:

Being that it seems Canelo will drop the WBC Belt after he beats Cotto, and Moses vs Bradley 3 has no chance of actually happening being that Khan is a bigger draw & Crawford vs Moses is the fight the hardcore fan wants, the thought of Rios winning this fight (by hook or crook:youngsabo: ) has just raised even more in my mind:mjpls:

Bradley better go out there and put on a clear and undebatable Boxing clinic, because I can sense Rios getting the nod with a close SD:sas2:
