This still doesn't help what is probably the biggest obstacle in making the fight. I don't doubt under the right situations Stevenson and Kovalev would agree to fight, but now Duva (through the arms of HBO) seem to be the biggest hurdle. She likely can't win a purse bid vs. PBC, but she wants the fight to be on HBO because Kovalev's contract is HBO exclusive.
Seems like if PBC was willing to let Stevenson fight on HBO, then HBO should look heavily about putting this on PPV. But it sounds like Ward's new contract is for him to fight on the Canelo-Cotto undercard, another fight early 2016, and culminating in a fight between he and Kovalev on PPV later in 2016.
Risking Kovalev losing to Stevenson throws off those plans. I think the goal was for Kovalev to fight once more before meeting with Ward.
A long winded way in saying, I doubt it happens. The promotional arms are moving away from that fight and towards Ward-Kovalev.

I think kkkov is the tougher fight(better fighter) but ggg has a good right uppercut and that punch has given Ward issues he ws dropped vs. Boone and 2 stepped against Abraham edit Froch might have had success with it as well.... I think it's his tendency to switch to high guard in the mid range that's the problem (I've always hated high guard

High guard to me has always been for while on the move or setting up shop, not once you've established position. I don't think would be able to get close enough to Ward (safely) to let off the uppercut. I think he'd get caught in a whirlwind of jab's n hooks
