I predict a double upset for this weekend.....

Banks KO
DeMarco TKO

:deadfat:

if we going to predict a tko you better give that kid credit when he win.

when the kilts retire the heavy weight division will matter. its already decent scraps without them.

As for the bold prediction of Broner losing by TKO. First off as many of you know I am big Broner fan and have defended him on many a night as well as would put him in my p4p top 10 if he wins. Here lies the problem for me, Ponce De Leon had a lot of success in his fight against Broner which I thought he won. It comes down to three things and am gambling on the riskiest being the problem for the problem. Basically I am betting on Broner not having conditioning issues or Ponce De Leon just having an odd style for him and that Ponce De Leon's power was an issue for him. If that is the case, Broner is hittable and after witnessing Molina Jr hit the canvas after DeMarco's straight left I truly have trouble seeing Broner winning this fight.

just my opinion, I will say that seeing DeMarco live might have skewed my view, but this to me is 50/50 pick'em fight

If a video ever surfaces :wow:

...Vitali still eyeing Lennox for that rematch :pachaha:

On Tuesday in Mexico City the WBC announced that WBC super welterweight champion Saul “Canelo Alvarez is free to make a voluntary defense of his title after Saturday’s WBC eliminator between Erislandy Lara and Vanes Martirosyan ended in a technicnal draw when Martirosyan suffered a cut in a head clash. The ruling opens the door to a possible mega-fight for Canelo on May 4, 2013 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Canelo has mentioned an interest in fighting Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto and Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez.

Lara/Vanes draw was a blessing in disguise :obama:

I don't think Broner had an issue with De Leon's power because dude never really landed cleanly enough although he's heavy handed and threw a good amount. I think it was De Leon's southpaw herky jerky odd angle style. He attacked from all types of angles with power shots and he never really allowed Broner to get too aggressive or take the fight away. He also showed sound defense for the most part when Broner was attacking.

Demarco has a chance but he really doesn't have the same ring attitude as De Leon and his aggressive approach is a lot more basic than Ponce's. You know how Demarco is going to come forward (jab, jab, left or hook) whereas with De Leon you don't know. I think that's also why you hardly ever see De Leon get blown out. His style keeps fighters honest and I think that's why Broner didn't look good in there with him.

Arum Likes Donaire-Mares, But No Golden Co-Promotion

By Luis Sandoval

After Abner Mares defeated Anselmo Moreno he made it clear that the next fight he wanted was against Nonito Donaire in a showdown of the two best Super Bantamweights in the world. A fight between them would be tough to make however due to the fact that both fighter’s promoters, Top Rank and Golden Boy, have had a long standing feud and have refused to work with each other.

It seemed like there was hope when CEO of Golden Boy Richard Schaefer said he’d be willing to talk and work out a deal with Top Rank in order to get the fight made.

BoxingScene spoke to Bob Arum today and was asked if a fight between Mares and Donaire was a fight he’d be willing to make after hearing Schaefer say he would be willing to work out a deal.

“Well one of the things is that Donaire has a fight against [Jorge] Arce so let’s see what happens in that fight. Afterwards we can talk but the WBC informed us that Mares has a mandatory. So you know, I’m sure that fight will happen when it’ll happen” said Arum to BoxingScene.com.

While he is open to a Mares-Donaire fight taking place, Arum made it very clear he has absolutely no interest in working with Golden Boy in the future for any other co-promotions."

“We have no interest in working with Golden Boy. However we will offer them a sum of money for the services of Mares, put them up as a co-promoter but we have no interest doing a regular co-promotion with them” revealed Arum to BoxingScene.

It looks as though the bad blood between both promotional companies still exists which makes any other possible fights between Top Rank and Golden Boy fighters not likely to happen.

The winner, Rocky Jerkic, is currently trained by Jeff Mayweather and supposedly gave champion Daniel Geale the business in sparring...

@SuikodenII @patscorpio @HARLEM AL @TheLukieBaby You guys know anything about Zachary Ochoa, 25yr old light welter from NY? If you're going to watch the fight in AC on Saturday, he's one of the early fights (like 6pm). Only his 3rd fight as a pro, but he's my friend's cousin...just curious.
