LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) — Twin River is getting some Hollywood treatment, as the Lincoln casino is the site of a movie shoot beginning Wednesday for the filming of “Bleed for This.”

The movie is about local boxing champ Vinny Pazienza (“Vinny Paz”) and is being executive produced by Martin Scorsese.

The movie, produced by East Greenwich-based Verdi Productions, stars Miles Teller (Divergent) as Vinny Paz and Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight, Olympus Has Fallen) as his trainer, Kevin Rooney. Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy, Married with Children) and Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones, There Will Be Blood) have also signed on to play Louise and Angelo Pazienza.

“Bleed for This” tells the story of how Paz recovered from a near-fatal car crash, then went on to win three world boxing titles.

Verdi stated, “We are looking for up to three thousand extras to fill the Event Center at Twin River Casino on November 12, 2014. We need to fill the Event Center with up to 1,500 people from 6 AM-12 PM and then 1,500 people from 1 PM-7 PM.” Verdi added, “There will be food and soft drinks served and we will be raffling off restaurant gift certificates, flat screen TV’s, RI premiere tickets, boxing gloves signed by Champ Vinny Paz as well as other actors and a chance to have lunch with Vinny Paz.”

Verdi Productions said if anyone is turned away due to capacity “you will be guaranteed another extra spot in the film in the fight scene at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.”
