Seems like Virgil Hunter has no problem with not making Ward vs Golovkin just yet (realizing Golovkin's potential star power in the following year to make it a bigger fight), but is he also hinting at two "Tune Ups" for Ward next year? :scust:

Best scenario is GGG rips through the comp next year getting a big win (Cotto / Canelo), but Ward I think also has to put himself in at least 1 moderately big fight because the way it's going, GGG likely would be the A side being the bigger seller and potentially having 1-2 PPVs by the time the Ward fight presents itself. Ward NEEDS a big fight and there's nobody besides Chavez Jr that would make for an event, but now with Chavez Jr signing with Haymon and if this Roc Nation deal happens with Ward, you can scratch that off too.

Golovkin has options where Ward is like :yeshrug:

Golovkin has more options in the sense of making money with Cotto or Canelo on his immediate radar, and even Virgil Hunter made mention of it as well. He knows the deal, and he also knows that Golovkin is a potential big money fight for Ward next year so he's all for letting Golovkin build his name bigger. Think about it, what big fight options does Ward really have right now? Hunter's talking about him having 2 stay busy fights. So are they just waiting for Golovkin to become the bigger name or will Ward do something out of left field and challenge BHop or Kovalev (which would be a big fight either way)?

Ward/GGG could definitely cook a lil longer as far as major fights go. I don't see why nikkas trip over it so much. :snoop:

It is a great fight, but one of many the two have the potential to make.

I would love to see this fight happen one day. As part of #GGGoodBoys, I will go on record saying I do think with Ward's layoff and GGG's star just starting to take off they need about a year (or couple fights from Ward being able to fight) from now to let the fight build up and get GGG some more good defenses and Ward a couple fights back to re-energize his fan base. Get the HBO hype machine started up.
Also think the fight should be at 168. I said it. No catchweights. But let's not act like GGG still doesn't have business at 160 and that this fight does need some hype to be what it should be.
