The rumors making the rounds on the Internet unfortunately appear to be true — beloved journeyman Emanuel Augustus was shot Monday night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and remains hospitalized, according to newspaper The Advocate.

“I just know he got shot in the back of the head,” a boxer friend of Augustus’ told the newspaper. “And he’s on life support right now.”

The shooting occurred just blocks from the gym where Augustus sparred. Police said they did not yet have a suspect or a motive.

Boxing writer Corey Erdman tweeted about Augustus’ condition as of early Tuesday afternoon: “According to Emanuel Augustus' family, he is breathing with the assistance of a machine, but the bullet is lodged in the back of his head.”

Augustus, 39, was 38-34-6 in a career where that record was not at all indicative of the talent he had. He often took fights on short notice against all sorts of familiar names, be they prospects, contenders or future titleholders.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. stopped Augustus, then known as Emanuel Burton, in nine rounds in 2000. Mayweather has often said that Augustus was one of his toughest opponents. Augustus also had a fan-friendly war with Micky Ward in 2001, a bout that RING magazine named its Fight of the Year.

His pro career came to a close in January 2011 with a decision loss to Vernon Paris, the fifth defeat in a row for Augustus.

An advisor's job is to offer his opinion and try to help guidelines ighter's career...an advisor is not supposed to have the final say in what you can or can't do.
Wonder is this is the same contract Floyd is under?:patrice:
Would call into question all of that "I am my own boss" bullshyt he likes to throw out all the time to criticize Pacquiao.
In a mailbag Dan said that Floyd was the only fighter who Haymon didnt have complete control over.

That language looks like Haymon is blurring the lines of advisor, manager, and promoter. Could be illegal...word is that a lot of people think Haymon is violating the Ali act, the Fed's have just never enforced it. :ohhh:

I honestly don't get why you are so extra critical of a guy who has not had 10 fights yet. it makes no sense.
A few of us have said he has potential but nobody has placed Joshua on a pedestal at all or think he should be getting title shots based off the level of comp he has beaten.
Very few fighters make the step-up this early in their careers so your digging through his amateur career and harping on who he has beaten to prove a point about his lack of defense is just mind-boggling to me.

This.

In the postfight interview he basically admitted hes been fighting cans in his first 9 as phase 1, phase 2 he says will end with a european title next year

It can be something serious like a inner ear problem where u would have to see a ENT specialist to something more simple like a ear drum being damaged.. The ear drum will just heal in its own for the most part.. Do u have health insurance?

you're a nurse for real breh ? :wow:

What's your specialty ?
