here is the deal about this Swift b.s.
NONE of these fighters pick their own fights unless they are self managed/promoted. Cotto one of the few nikkas that can choose who he wants to fight. Nobody else does. Their team, promoters, managers, advisors, and sometimes even networks.....have more of a say so over who they fight then they do. this includes Floyd (even though this may be more by choice).
as much as Swift would prob like to fight some of these guys....his team aint gonna do it. its bad because its a risk you take that can ruin a fighters career.
the key to this game is momentum....and Swift is losing it because his team and management are dikking around. they obviously feel this angling will pay off in the long run so they likely know something we dont. they are looking 2-3 fights ahead of what the general public sees.
A Matthysse fight doesnt do as well as the first one, but it would do well on reg Sho. His team aint looking in that direction because he got the win already...over a guy who was supposed to obliterate him. Herrera...you know the game....he is too much risk and too lil reward. Beating a guy cleanly the 2nd time that you were supposed to beat cleanly the first time proves nothing.
The Peterson fight is a good fight.....again, his TEAM is probably like...why risk it? Its a precarious position. If Peterson was a star in the making, they would do that fight in a heartbeat...but you cant risk Peterson taking the shine and they he is apt to lose in his next fight. He has losses and draws on his record already. AB is in rebuilding mode. It would be a great fight if AB won but there is no guarantee of that and if he loses, he may never see another headline.
Again, no triangle theory because Peterson can beat Swift....but its still like a step backwards for Swift. Why? Because Peterson barely escaped with a win against Khan. Swift KOed him. Peterson got murked by LM, and Swift looked very good against him. and so on... I personally would like to see the fight because I think it is a very good and competitive fight.
Alas, he needs to go to WW. everything I just explained, really is tied in some way shape or form with Swift's handlers/network NOT wanting him to relinquish his titles until he has another one firmly in his grasp.
