Actually came in to post about this earlier, but peeps was throwing out wrestling references and hammering every fighter. Wasn't the right time to be serious.


The truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. That is Matthysse for me. He isn't the indestructible force from the Peterson fight, he also isn't some bum that everyone is ready to "expose".
IMO, I had Matthysse beating Alexander and losing to Judah. I think everyone can admit those were close fights. He put both of them on the canvas and the only time Alexander has been knocked down...and he just fought the MW masquerading as WW Shawn Porter and battled Maidana and Randall Bailey.
Zab wasn't completely shot, still a competitive fighter (after the fact he actually wobbled Garcia more than anyone ever has), but being real Matthysse should have won that fight if he was going to prove something.

And getting to Molina....we will have to wait and see, but I am of the opinion 140 is going to be a better weight for him. He was 5'10 making 135. I serious wonder if he was draining himself too much in weight it affected his power/chin. On fight night he was the man in his first fight at 140, but he looked like a much bigger man than Matthysse.

In the end we know who Matthysse is. A great puncher, a mediocre boxer, a solid chin - although not the chin of granite we thought, and a warrior. He will produce FOTY candidates with guys going toe to toe and will struggle against guys who can move. He has proven vs guys that can move he will at least be competitive, even if he doesn't win.


Now Broner...........I love this fight. Broner is more athletic and has more speed, but he has a penchant for being caught with punches. Matthysse is not a good guy to do that against. I see a similar fight as Maidana, but cleaner in that Matthysse doesn't play nearly as rough. Broner may hit the canvas once or twice and have to prove he can weather the storm, if it goes 12 he will probably win more rounds...but need to hope those are enough to cover any KD's.

Again, Matthysse hasn't beat anyone to make me think he can beat Broner. Judah has a weak chin and he beat Matthysse, so Im confident in Broner being able to go the full 12
