i have no idea..the record for that is a dude winning a title in his 3rd pro fight..they were trying to break that record..i was all against it when lomachenko got that shot against salido in his second pro fight..salido deserved better than that..shyt i didnt even blame him for giving up his title on the scales and using every veteran trick in the book to win that fight..but lomachenko should not get another automatic title shot because of it..gary russ can beat him but i dont even blame gary for saying fukk that fight

Breh, he's saying Jhonny Gonzales is ducking him and that he can beat Rigo and Santa Cruz. Those are all big fights, but until he gets somebody on his resume worth a damn, no one if gonna waste time with him

You dont think he can take this short money now, become the WBO Champion at 126, and then get them huge pay days with matchups against Santa Cruz, Rigo, Mares, and Donaire?

He's hustling backwards like he's already a draw or name brand fighter or something. He's still a prospect:manny:

Keeping it real, 1-1 Lomachenko and 24-0 Gary Russell are on the exact same level at this time....Loma has more hype behind him though:yeshrug:

Thurman Would Love To Move Up and Fight Canelo - Boxing News

Keith “One Time” Thurman is patiently waiting for his name to continue getting bigger in order to get the big fights in the Welterweight division. He plans to put on a show Saturday night as he takes on veteran Julio Diaz in the main event in Carson, CA at the Stub Hub Center.

While the welterweight division is the glamour division of the sport and houses some of the biggest names, there’s also plenty happening 7 pounds north. Thurman isn’t exactly a small 147 pound fighter and judging by his physique, it’s easy to imagine him fighting as a Junior Middleweight.

Thurman feels perfectly fine where he’s at but he doesn’t rule out going to 154 for the right opportunity and names one fighter in particular that could make him move up.

“I’ve never weighed 154. I’ve fought above 150 but I’ve never fought at 154. Just want to put that on record for you. But I’ll do it if it makes dollars and it makes sense. There’s not too much competition out there that would really make me want to move up but Canelo. There’s always Canelo. I’ve liked that boy ever since he stepped foot on American soil,” said the undefeated interim champion.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is without a question the money cow of the Junior Middleweight division. His popularity continues to grow and even a defeat to Floyd Mayweather didn’t deter his fans as his last fight with Alfredo Angulo did over 350,000 pay per view buys.
A matchup between Canelo and Thurman would definitely be great but Thurman really wants to make his stamp at 147 and would want to still come back even if he did have a stint at 154.

“We’ll see. I have a lot of love and passion for the Welterweight division. The Welterweight division has a lot of history and Keith “One Time” Thurman wants to be a part of that history. But like I said, if it makes dollars it makes sense. We’ll move. I’ll play hopscotch and hop over here then hop over there. It ain’t no problem for me,” declared Thurman.

While 154 may be in Thurman’s future, his current assignment is at 147 and Thurman will look to score a knockout victory in his first headlining fight.

Yes, because even though Loma is no longer undefeated, he's fought the tougher opponent (Salido), and has more of a name amongst the mainstream than Russell has at this point (thanks to Arum).

Russell needs to take this fight, because he hasnt really advanced in his career after 5 years and 24 fights already....he's still rather unknown. Take short money, become the WBO Champion at 126, and that will guarantee him the paydays he's looking for in the future.

I've just never heard of a prospect turning down the chance at a title over cash so early in their career:manny:

Problem is Canelo won't be at 154 much longer. He could barely make weight against Angulo. After Lara, I see him having maybe 1 more (2 at most) fight at 154 before he goes up to 160. So Thurman would have to go up to MW to fight him.

Shannon Briggs Continues His Clubber Lange Impression At Klitschko Leapai Weigh-In
kBQ5JoH.jpg

Australian challenger Alex Leapai has weighed in marginally heavier than champion Wladimir Klitschko for their heavyweight title fight to be staged in Germany on Saturday.

Leapai scaled 112.5kg (248.2-pounds) to Klitschko's 112.2kg (247.35-pounds) in the eve of fight formality, which took place at a shopping centre in Oberhausen.

Although Klitschko enjoys massive height and reach advantages, the fact he was slightly lighter didn't surprise Leapai's trainer Noel Thornberry, who predicted earlier in the week that would be the case.

And, as happened at the press conference this past Tuesday, the event was hijacked to some extent by former WBO heavyweight champion, Shannon Briggs, who once again crashed the gathering.

"You're looking fat around the sides," Briggs shouted at Klitschko when the quadruple champion was on the scales.

He offered Klitschko's trainer James Ali Bashir a million dollars and then a million Euros to switch camps and train him.

Briggs then turned his attention to Leapai, whom he described as a bum at the press conference.

"Good luck Alex, be strong tomorrow, stay strong," Briggs yelled. "Get inside and bang hard to the body."

I know Briggs is just trying to get a quick pay day and will lose to Wlad but I am enjoying the hell out of his trolling so damn hard.

although honestly i cant see why he is, in terms of physical gifts, other than he can punch and there are plenty of bangers at 147..paul was a tall southie with an insane workrate and stamina

Nah, not in terms of talent/skill, but the being avoided to the point where he's gonna have to bounce back and forth between 147-154 in order to eat. I hated that The Punisher had to do that, but nobody really wanted that work at 147....they was scared:manny:

Keith Thurman seems to be walking down that path. Not saying he cant be beat, because he can, but nobody with a name wants to fight him....and he's a belt holder:snoop:

This is about the only reason why I can actually watch MMA. I don't give a damn in saying that most are crude fighters. However, they will give you fights that make sense. Like Pac and Floyd, we would have had that fight years ago with a commission yet both have acted like divas. Jon Jones wouldn't be able to pick on the scrubs in the world. He has another tough challenge tomorrow.
